We’ve got our stretchy pants ready and our Santa Hats on because we’re at the grand opening of the 2020 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays!
We just got a taste of the new Twix coffee and doughnuts from Joffrey’s Coffee and got a look at the EPIC gingerbread display at the Canada Pavilion. BUT, there’s a TON of brand new goodies joining the group with the debut of the Holiday Hearth this year!
The Holiday Hearth is featuring a few of the snacks and sips you’ll find at other places around the World Showcase, including the Peppermint Bark, non-alcoholic Hot Cocoa, and Cocoa Candy Cane: Hot Cocoa with Peppermint Schnapps. However, since this is a new booth, the Holiday Hearth is also bringing SIX brand new items to the Festival of the Holidays this year!
- Red Velvet Mini Bundt Cake with Cream Cheese Icing
- Salted Caramel Spaceship Earth Cookie
- Snowball Cookies
- Mouse Crunch
- Gingerbread Milkshake (non-alcoholic)
- Gingerbread Milkshake with Whipped Cream Vodka
Shall we dig in? Don’t mind if we do!
Food
The Red Velvet Mini Bundt Cake was an absolute delight! It’s lovely, it’s cute, and it’s super yummy. The cake is topped with festive icing and sprinkles to really bring out the Christmas spirit.
We loved the rich cream cheese frosting at the center and the moist red velvet cake. Just look at how much cream cheese frosting fills the cake! The Instagram-worthy treat is $4 and big enough to share with a friend!
The Salted Caramel Spaceship Earth Cookie is inspired by the beloved Spaceship Earth! The cookie is pretty cute in person and comes with a little holly-shaped frosting to remind you that it’s the holiday season!
It’s actually much tastier than it appears! It’s very sweet, which is to be expected when you combine salted caramel filling with a crispy cookie! It’s so sweet that we would almost prefer it without the chunky sugar-coating on the top half. Also, the cookie is a hefty size! You basically get two cookies for the price of $5.25!
The sugar-powdered Snowball Cookies are not overly sweet and really enjoyable! We absolutely loved them and would totally buy these again. We’re also big fans of the container keepsake that comes wrapped in a red bow. You get quite a few cookies in the jar and it costs $4.
The Mouse Crunch is an assortment of popcorn, chocolate pretzels, and M&M’s pretty much screams, “It’s Christmas!” The various goodies come wrapped in holiday cellophane so you can transport it home easily. Or, eat your snacks throughout the day!
The mix comes with caramel and apple popcorn. The popcorn tasted very similar to the Caramel Apple Popcorn we had at the Appleseed Orchard during this year’s Food and Wine Festival. Only, this mix comes with the added bonus of chocolate candies and pretzels! You can get this bag of snacks for $6.50.
Ok, but what’s the holiday season without a little peppermint bark? The white chocolate is coated with bits of crushed peppermint. So basically, it has all the components of Christmas in one treat! The bark from Hearth is fairly predictable in taste, but still very delish. You can purchase a bag for$6.25.
We recently enjoyed the Stollen bread from the Gasparilla Grill in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Our experience with EPCOT’s Stollen: Holiday Fruit Cake was similar to the Grand Floridian’s treat. The bread is really tasty, but not too sweet. Our only complaint here is that it doesn’t come packed with nuts and fruits. A solid fruit cake should be absolutely stuffed with goodies and this was a little lacking.
However, the bread comes dusted with a fantastic amount of powdered sugar, which we always enjoy! You can try the fruit cake for $4.25.
Beverages
Ok, it’s time for the STAR of the show! EPCOT made our visit to Hearth worth it by adding this yummy Gingerbread Shake with Whipped Cream Vodka! It’s a rarity for us to actually taste the alcohol in a boozy shake, but we absolutely noticed the vodka in the shake.
We also loved the richness of the gingerbread milkshake that cut down the alcohol a bit. The texture of the shake combined with the crunchy cookie made it a showstopper and worth the calories! You can get the boozy shake for $11 or without alcohol for $4.50.
The Cocoa Candy Cane made a fantastic return this year too! We’re big fans of the balance between the peppermint and hot chocolate in the drink. Plus, the marshmallows add a touch of good sweetness to the drink. It’s a classic take on the Peppermint Schnapps and cocoa treat! The drink costs $11.
That’s a LOT of food, but we promise we’re saving room for more! You can check back with us as we visit the rest of the food booths being featured at this year’s Festival of the Holidays!
