Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing major refurbishments with a newly reimagined entryway and Moana-inspired guest rooms.
We’ve been keeping tabs on all the refurbishment and construction updates around the resort to see how it’s impacting guest experiences. We’re back today to give you a quick low-down on its progress!
The biggest impact is that the monorail is no longer stopping at the resort. Disney is compensating with boat transportation that transports guests to and from the Magic Kingdom. The entryway is getting a huge overhaul and construction continues on the roof where the iconic beams were removed.
The biggest update we noticed today is that noticeable construction has begun near the guest rooms. Scaffolding is installed along the walls of some buildings while Cast Members begin their work.
Some new walls have been installed that block certain pathways around the impacted buildings.
As a reminder, DVC rooms and villas are open to guests while the remaining rooms and buildings are being worked on. Amenities like the pools, gift shops, lobby, and a few restaurants are open for villa guests and visitors.
Construction is slated to continue until summer 2021 with the resort officially reopening during that time. We’ll continue to make our way back to the resort to take note of any more impactful updates.

The Polynesian Resort used to be a great, quaint little secret. I hope the Moana infusion does not screw it up.
