New Year’s Eve will certainly look a bit different this year at Walt Disney World.
The parks won’t be open as late as they normally would have been open in previous years, and while fireworks have returned in a very small way to Magic Kingdom, full firework shows are still temporarily suspended. But that doesn’t mean guests won’t be able to have fun. Disney has just provided an update on park hours and announced some festivities Disney World Resort hotel guests will be able to participate in on New Year’s Eve!
Disney recently confirmed certain offerings that will be available for New Year’s Eve. This was sent as an email to registered hotel guests with an upcoming stay booked through New Year’s Eve. A huge thank you to our reader Brian (@bcvandy64 via Instagram) for sending us this information. First, Disney noted the hours the parks will be open on New Year’s Eve, which are as follows:
- Magic Kingdom: 8AM-11PM
- EPCOT: 10AM-10PM
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 9AM-9PM
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom: 7AM-8PM
- Disney Springs: 10AM-11PM
Of course, all park hours are subject to change, so be sure to check the Disney park times calendar as well as with us here at DFB for more updates.
Additionally, the email notes that while the hours have been extended at some of the parks and they are decorated for the holiday season, all of the parks and Disney Springs will close prior to midnight as Disney continues to follow health and safety measures put in place during its phased reopening to help foster physical distancing.
What about the hotels? Will there be any activities for guests to participate in at the Disney resorts on New Year’s Eve? It appears the answer to that is yes! Disney’s email notes that Disney World Resort hotels will offer “fun and festive activities” for their guests. Full details for these activities are set to be provided upon guests’ arrival at their hotel.
We’re not sure what those “fun and festive” activities are yet, or how late into the night they will be available. It’s possible that these activities, like the parks themselves, will stop before midnight for social distancing purposes. We’ll let you know as soon as we find out more information.
In addition to those “fun and festive activities” pre-recorded fireworks and other holiday offerings will be available to stream on the in-room televisions at the Disney World Resort hotels so guests can ring in the new year with their families.
The fact that all of the parks and Disney Springs will be closing before midnight on New Year’s Eve AND that Disney has announced that only pre-recorded fireworks will be available for viewing in the resort rooms makes it seem like live New Year’s Eve fireworks will likely not be happening this year in Disney World. This is particularly true since Disney is focused on maintaining social distancing and holiday firework shows can draw some seriously large crowds. But, we’ll keep you posted if we hear of any updates.
Disney Resort hotel guests will also be able to order a New Year’s Eve party basket from Disney Floral and Gifts to help them celebrate. There are a few packages available online including a Family New Year’s Eve Game Night Celebration package, 2021 balloons, a Disney Family Fun Box, and more.
You can visit the Disney Floral and Gifts webpage to find out more information and see the options available.

We’ll be on the lookout for more information about how you can celebrate New Year’s Eve and all the upcoming holidays at Disney World. Stay tuned for more updates!
