After Disney World’s reopening this summer, Disney has continued to clarify its health and safety guidelines, including its requirement that guests wear masks.

Since the initial announcement, Disney has updated its requirements to the kinds of masks that guests can wear at Disney World, as well as updated its announcements about facial coverings.

In September, Disney World updated its overhead announcements to remind guests that masks must also stay on while taking photos, as well as made it clear that guests must also be masked during ride photos or the photos would not be released.

This caused some issues for guests because masks do occasionally slip down accidentally during rides, as well as cases where a child inadvertently removes a mask. So Disney began to test a system where it began to alter ride photos to place a digital mask on maskless riders in those photos. At the time, this was only being tested at Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom.

However, it seems that Disney is no longer altering ride photos. In an email to the Washington Post, a Disney spokesperson stated: “In response to guest requests, we tested modifying some ride photos. We are no longer doing this and continue to expect guests to wear face coverings except when actively eating or drinking while stationary.”

We also confirmed this with a Cast Member — Disney will no longer alter ride photos. But if that changes, we’ll be sure to let you know.
