Although Christmas has come and gone, we’re still finding new holiday treats to try at Disney World — although we’ve mostly already eaten them all!
We’ve certainly had our share of holiday cupcakes and cookies, as well as indulged in quite a few holiday drinks! But what’s one more holiday snack, right?
So we headed over to Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to check out the Holiday Trio Dessert, which is THREE bite-sized desserts, so um…YES! You get Gingerbread Mousse, a Peppermint Mickey Dome, and a Black Forest Cake. That’s a nice little sampler of holiday flavors right there! These pretty desserts are also Insta-worthy, too!
We started with the cute little Peppermint Mickey Dome. The peppermint flavor came from little bits of flavored white chocolate inside the mousse, which gave it a light peppermint taste that blended well with the chocolate.
However, the cookie on the bottom was a little dry and kind of “meh.” We think we would have liked it better had it been like a gingersnap cookie or something with a bit more flavor.
We then dove into the Gingerbread Mousse, which came with a gingerbread cookie on the side. We’re not going to lie — that little cookie was our favorite part of this dessert!
We definitely got a good taste of gingerbread spiciness with each bite of the mousse, but the cream cheese icing on top balanced it out. But we’ll warn you — it’s heavy on the gingerbread flavor. Also, the red and green bits were pieces of cake, which tasted a little stale.
Finally, it was time to dive into the Black Forest Cake. Now, there is a LOT going on here with its layers of chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, chocolate chip frosting, white chocolate, and peppermint bark. And it’s almost TOO much because this baby is SO sweet — maybe even too sweet for us!
Although on paper this might have sounded like a delicious dessert, we thought it was all just a bit TOO much cloying sweetness. This was our least favorite of the three.
You can try the Holiday Trio Dessert for yourself through January 2nd for $13. Also, here’s a quick note: this is normally served IN the lounge itself but you can ask to order this dessert to-go from the bar!
And if we find any other holiday treats we haven’t tried yet, we’ll be back with more reviews!
