The bubble is set to come back, you guys!
This summer, the NBA came to Disney World to finish the 2019-2020 season. The players lived in Disney World Resort hotels and had their own “bubble” with loads of amenities, including a barber shop. They played their games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, and once the season was complete, the bubble came down and Disney resorts reopened. Now, it looks like the bubble will soon be back for another round, because the NBA G League is expected to come to Disney World.
After 9 months of delays, the NBA G League will reportedly be starting their 2021 season at Disney World, in the same bubble environment that the NBA used this summer, according to CBS Sports. The regular season will be between 12-15 games long before the playoffs begin.
Per the tentative timeline, the 2021 G League Draft will take place on January 11th, and the teams will arrive in Orlando on January 26th. February 8th is the proposed opening night of the season, and March 5th-9th will be when the playoffs take place.
Not every team will be participating, because it’s reported to cost $400,000-$500,000 for the franchises to send their teams to the bubble. Of the franchises, 11 have already opted out from sending their team — to see the list of which teams are set to go and which aren’t, click here.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for any more news on this front, so stay tuned to DFB. It was a lot of fun to see what the NBA players were up to in their bubble, so we can’t wait to hear more!
