Although we’ve spent the past few months eating almost nothing but holiday snacks at Disney World, we’re ready to start the New Year off with some returning favorites!
So when we spotted a peanut butter cupcake at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we jumped all over it because we LOVE peanut butter, whether it’s in a peanut butter brownie or an ice cream sundae!
But this cupcake is actually a returning favorite — the Peanut Butter Crunch Cupcake! It’s pretty much the same as the Butterfinger Cupcake we’ve had in the past from the Trolley Car Cafe, but now it’s at Rosie’s All-American Cafe! This is a Chocolate Cupcake topped with Peanut Butter Buttercream Frosting and covered with a Peanut Butter Candy Shell. It’s also crowned with two chocolate Mickey ears.
This particular cupcake has gone through a few different makeovers (the chocolate Mickey ears were added in 2019), but we believe it’s basically the same. And it’s a peanut butter lover’s dream! In fact, we think maybe there’s more peanut butter flavor now than ever!
We did have problems getting this cupcake out of the wrapper, and it is VERY messy; but biting into it is SO worth it when you get to that HUGE amount of chocolate fudge filling in the center! (Interestingly, in our cupcake there wasn’t a whole lot of…well…cake. It was mostly filling. I’m sure that will change with each one, but heads up.)
The picture below is what it looked like when it was at the Trolley Car Cafe. The last time we tried this treat, there was significantly less filling and it was more sauce-like, whereas this time around the filling had a thicker, caramel-like texture (more in line with the original Butterfinger Cupcake fudge filling.)
Also on our last visit, a Cast Member told us the buttercream was peanut butter, however it tasted much more like vanilla. In the cupcake today, we could really taste the peanut butter! The cupcake is no longer available at this location, and is currently only found at Rosie’s All-American Cafe.
But we can’t forget about the origins of this cupcake! This is the original Butterfinger Cupcake with a pile of frosting! This has been a DFB favorite for quite some time. And although it is now the Peanut Butter Crunch Cupcake, is smaller, and has much less frosting, we’re glad to have some form of it in the parks!
This is a very rich dessert, though, so you might want to share it with a friend. You can grab one of your own at Rosie’s All-American Cafe for $4.99. And we’ll let you know what other snacks the New Year brings to Disney World, too!
