Many of the guests that fly to Disney World travel through the nearby Orlando International Airport.
Despite CDC warnings against holiday travel, Orlando International Airport has been expecting a surge in passenger traffic surrounding the holidays.
Click Orlando reports that nearly 90,000 people are expected to pass through the airport on Sunday, January 3rd, which makes it the busiest day of this holiday season.
Of the projected passengers, 44,971 of them are departures. News 6 monitored TSA screenings on the evening of Saturday, January 2nd ahead of the spike in traffic, and estimated that it took approximately 20 minutes for each person to pass through.
The airport has implemented several new health and safety processes including crowd control and sanitation measures. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for any further updates regarding travel to and from the Orlando area.
