Several refurbishments are happening in Walt Disney World right now!
Harper’s Mill Construction
Tom Sawyer Island  and the Liberty Square Riverboat are all getting fixed up in Magic Kingdom. Over in Animal Kingdom, Kali River Rapids is going through some Winter downtime, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting a full-scale makeover. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is among those that are temporarily closed. But, today we saw a glimmer of hope for a potential reopening.
We’ve been anxiously awaiting the return of the PeopleMover since before the Disney World parks reopened. It was scheduled to open with Magic Kingdom but hasn’t returned since, with the refurbishment date continuously being pushed back.
We miss you, PeopleMover!
Recently, the date was moved to the end of this month, and now we’re beginning to see more signs of a reopening on the horizon. Today, we got this video from reader Shawn Cornell — the PeopleMover is moving again! There were no people on the attraction, but it was such nice sight to see this baby moving again!

We’ve got our fingers crossed that the PeopleMover will reopen on its new January 31 reopening date! Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates on this attraction and all the others currently under refurbishment at Disney World.

The people mover was running all day without people on it, Sunday Jan 10 and Tuesday Jan 12, but still closed.
