Every once in a while when I’m in Disney World I gather a bushel full of food news, and this is one of those times! So, I decided to take one post to share all of these items and get your feedback! If you’ve heard this news or have experience with it, let us know in the comments! 🙂
Poolside Dining Available at Beach Club Dunes Pool
The Dunes Pool outside of the Beach Club Villas is now offering Poolside Dining like we’ve found at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Kidani Village and the Contemporary Resort!

Refillable Mug Price Hike
Disney resort refillable mugs will now cost $14.49, plus tax, meaning they’ll be over $15.00 when all is said and done.

Holiday Swirl Cone at Storybook Treats
Magic Kingdom’s Storybook Treats is now offering a red and green version of its soft serve swirl cone! The flavor is still vanilla, but some creative food coloring gives the cones here a special holiday “something.”

Ice Cream Novelty Menu Changes
After years of offering the same old, same old, the ice cream novelty menu in Disney’s parks is changing up!
On this trip, I saw that a Mango Gelato cup has been added to the Magic Kingdom ice cream novelty list…

…and Itzakadoozie pops have been removed from the Epcot ice cream novelty list. They’ve been replace by this Triple Blast Ice Pop.

Peppermint Cupcake Arrives at Boardwalk Bakery
In addition to the seasonal Chocolate Peppermint Cupcake at Contempo Cafe, the Boardwalk Bakery is offering a Peppermint cupcake as well!
This one is adorned with candy canes and an airbrushed pink frosting.

Santa’s Little Helper Returns to Crew’s Cup
The seasonal favorite, Santa’s Little Helper, has returned as signature beverage at the Yacht Club’s Crew’s Cup Lounge.
Featuring Goldschlager, Bailey’s, and Butterscotch, this is a potent and fitting holiday drink!

Golden Oak Outpost Menu Changes
The menu at this out-of-the-way counter-service location in Frontierland has shrunk a bit more. Now, the only hot food offered is the hot dog.

QR Codes Take Over Christmas
The Disney resort gingerbread displays have a brand new component this year!
Many of them have scannable QR codes that show guests videos and information about the gingerbread creations — directly on their smartphones or other portable devices!

Text Message Updates from Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
This year, guests can text a certain code to begin receiving updates during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! These updates will remind you of upcoming fireworks and shows, but also to get your free cookies and cocoa!

Earl of Sandwich has Improved Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches
Downtown Disney’s Earl of Sandwich is boasting improved ice cream cookie sandwiches for dessert. These are two cookies with ice cream sandwiched in the middle. Flavors are strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla.

I miss when Earls of Sammich had those ghirardelli chocolate ice cream brownie cookie sandwiches. OMG those were the best. Last 4 times I’ve gone, they haven’t been on the menu.

Love the idea of poolside dining. I wish all the resorts did this. Not too many places in NC have soft serve ice cream and I do miss that from my days on Long Island and Carvel. And mango ice cream is one of the few sweets I cannot resist. Santa’s Little Helper is my wife’s type of drink. She is not a drinker but anything with whipped cream…
Ouch to the mug price hike. We’re going for a week in May, but honestly, at this price, I’m not sure the mug is going to be worth it. :-/

I had a caramel sundae made with teh holiday ice cream at Storybook. As it melted, it turned lavender! How green and red make purple, I’ll never know, but it was a nice treat! However, telling the cashier that we thought the chocolate should be called Reindeer-Brown did not elicit even a smile! I thought it was funny…
We discovered the loss of Itzakadoozies in September and my 9 year old was really sad. The replacement popscicles are NOT gluten free. I hope they bring them back!
Santa’s Little Helper sounds good. I like the seasonal ice cream cones.
I would pay $15 for the mug. I bought one last year and used it during my stay so I got my money’s worth. I got the new one this year as part of the deluxe dining plan. I use it every day at work. Heck, I’ve paid that for a suvenier shot glass that sits on the shelf and collects dust. So I think it’s worth it.
I was glad to see they added the mug to the standard dining plan. I thought it would help cut down on the people “cheating the system” by bringing old mugs. With the price increase I can see it encouraging more people to use old mugs who aren’t on the plan.
So. Bummed I didn’t make it to the boardwalk bakery this trip! There were several cupcakes I wanted to try, lol.
It had been years since we’d stayed in a DisneyWorld Resort Hotel and when I saw the mug price during our October trip I was slightly shocked. We were only there three days but it was completely worth it to purchase the mug… because we only bought 1. It was myself, my mother and my brother and we shared the 1 mug making it more than worth the $15. It’s when you buy one for each person in your party that it’s ridiculously expensive.

poolside dining sounds really great. But I bet it will be the most expensive meal you have ever had delivered to the table you are sitting at! We were there a few weeks ago and just could not believe the amount of money that is suggested for a tip. The food prices are close to being double of what they should be and then they suggest an 18% tip on top of that??? We tipped according to service and according to value of the meal….boy did the one gal at Cape May Buffet turn sour when she saw the amount of her tip for a buffet….she wasn’t rude but her attitude turned real cold immediately.
