We’re still awaiting the day when we can sail aboard the Disney Cruise Line again. Disney has noted that the cruise line would be the last of its businesses to resume, and that its return to cruising would be delayed by the CDC’s new requirements.
At the moment, Disney Cruise Line has canceled sailings through March of 2021 and select sailings longer than 7 nights as well. To give some flexibility to those with cruises planned for this year, Disney has also adopted some temporarily final payment extensions and has gradually been extending its cruise date flexibility option. And now both of those have been extended once again.
Back in December, Disney temporarily extended their deadline for final payment on sailings through June 30th, 2021. As of early December, Disney’s Cruise Date Flexibility Option was also available for any cruise booked before the end of 2020 and sailing before the end of May 2021. The Cruise Date Flexibility Option allows guests to change their sail date up to 15 days prior to departure.
Starting today, January 22nd, Disney made another extension for final payments. For Disney Cruise Line sailings through August 31st, 2021, Disney has temporarily extended their final payment until 60 days prior to sailing for Guests in unrestricted stateroom categories. So, if you haven’t yet reached your payment due date and you’ve got a cruise booked through August 31st, 2021, you can wait until 60 days before sailing to pay for your vacation.
Additionally, Disney has temporarily relaxed their cancellation fee schedule for sailings through August 2021. You can see the details below.
In terms of Cruise Date Flexibility, that has been extended as well. For any new or existing cruises booked before March 31, 2021, which are scheduled to sail on or before August 31st, 2021, guests will be able to change their sail date up to 15 days prior to embarkation.
If you’ve got a Disney Cruise Line vacation scheduled for this year, be sure to reach out to Disney or your travel professional if you have specific questions about your options. We’ll keeping a close eye on all of the changes going on with Disney Cruise Line, and will let you know when we spot any other updates.
Disney Cruise Line recently announced that they’ll be offering 2 day cruises to Seattle! Check out the details here.

Just got notification that my May 6, 2021 cruise on the Disney MAGIC out of Miami has been canceled by DCL. Disney said in the letter that all Disney MAGIC cruises will be canceled through May 6, 2021. If you paid in full they are offering you 125% credit to rebook, or a full refund. Those who have not paid in full will be automatically refunded. I’m a little sad about it but I was in a little bit of a dilemma whether to go or not. Now the decision has been made me. Still have to decide if I will rebook. The rebook date has been pushed forward to May 2022.
