The mysterious saga of the Gran Fiesta Tour Three Caballeros continues!
You know the Three Caballeros as the lovable trio who play a rockin’ concert in Mexico. Lately, this feathery group has really been throwing us for a loop by disappearing from their big finale left and right. Now, it seems the Caballeros have flown the coop — and you won’t believe their replacements.
Let’s back up. So, last year we noticed that Jose had decided to take a brief sabbatical from the band. His replacement? A small pile of red and yellow flowers. He returned not too long after and we assumed that would be the end of it. But boy, were we wrong.
Enter PLANT DONALD, stage right. Mere months after Jose had decided the band was getting to be too much, Donald was suddenly replaced by a plant in a sombrero. What could have happened here? Did he leave right before the show so they had to use the best replacement they could find? Or was Donald hoping his friends wouldn’t notice if he slide a sombrero plant in his place? We had so many questions!
Then, Donald’s plant understudy went missing! Maybe it just couldn’t take the pressure of performing in all of those people, but that means we only had TWO Caballeros.
Now that brings us to today when there’s another mystery afoot at Gran Fiesta Tour. We thought maybe Panchito was next in this weird trend of foliage replacing the performers — but that’s only the part of it. Yep, Panchito has disappeared, but so have Donald and Jose! All three Caballeros have been replaced by flat stands that look like them!
Nothing to see here, move along! Maybe Disney thought we wouldn’t notice, or maybe they couldn’t find three plants that are stage material. Whatever the case, the finale of Gran Fiesta Tour looks REALLY different right now.
We’ll of course be keeping an eye out on the Great Caballeros Caper. As soon as we spot a change to our feathery friends, we’ll be sure to let you know. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates!

Really funny entry! “…maybe they couldn’t find three plants that are stage material.” This one literally made me LOL.

We were in EPCOT Wednesday and we couldn’t believe how long the line was to get on the ride. — out the front entrance and all the way to the Hacienda. My conjecture is that it is a scheme by Disney to create interest in a very old attraction that got very little usage. Who would have ever thought we’d be talking about this ride?

Never got the tie in between the 3-C’s and the attraction. Just did not fit for me.

Long term, I think that Disney wants to replace most animatronics with video projections which are cheaper to create and maintain.
