We’re SO excited for all the new things coming to EPCOT!
A new restaurant, TWO new rides, and MORE?! It seems like we’re just starting to scratch the surface on EPCOT’s makeover at Disney World! And, we’ve got an update on construction progress so grab your walkman and crank up the Awesome Mix Tape!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a new reverse-launch, 360-degree rollercoaster coming to EPCOT in 2021. We’ve gotten to see a sneak peek of the ride vehicles and heard from the film’s director, James Gunn, that the ride will be “Utterly Mind-Blowing” so we’re pretty hyped for this to open up. We’ve been keeping close track of construction progress and today we spotted a few more updates to the exterior!
Up close you can start to get a glance at the newest update to the building.
And, when you step back a little, you’ll notice that the panels we saw being installed on the roof are now looking blue (in a good way)! These panels can be spotted in the original concept art for the ride so it’s exciting to see it coming together!
The ride will feature a lot of new technology not used on an attraction before. And get this, the blue panels will actually help power the roller coaster!
While the solar panels certainly aren’t the most thrilling part of the new ride (at least we hope), it’s cool to see how Disney is innovating with the environment in mind!
Cosmic Rewind is projected to open at EPCOT ahead of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in October 2021, so we’re slowly getting closer to riding with the Star Lord! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney construction updates!

Using solar panels for Guardians is not innovative, it is old hat. It was Innovative back in 1982 when the solar roof panels were use to power the audience moving theater seats for the original Universe of Energy.

Wait, what?? Open before October 2021? MAYBE before the 50th anniversary “year” ends in OCT 22.
