Planning to visit (or dreaming about visiting) Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in the near future? Well, then there are a few important things you should know about.
Aulani reopened in Hawaii near the end of last year with some limited food options and activities. The resort also debuted a new app, welcomed a new Disney character, and even started offering some AWESOME savings for Disney World Annual Passholders. But now, the resort has made some updates!
Face Masks
Face Coverings are required at all times at Aulani for guests ages 2 and up and for Cast Members too. Guests can remove their masks, however, when dining or swimming. This has been the policy at the resort since it reopened.
But, now Aulani’s face mask policy has been updated. Like the Disney World and Disneyland websites, the Aulani website now notes that masks are required for anyone 2 and up including those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Aulani’s website now also notes that face coverings have to be made of at least 2 layers of breathable material, fully cover your nose and mouth and secure under your chin, fit snugly, and be secured with ties or loops. These, again, are the same policies we’ve seen in Disney World and Disneyland.
Also, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not allowed.
Additionally, the Aulani page now specifies that face masks with a transparent plastic panel over the mouth portion are allowed. BUT these masks must be a fabric face covering with a solid plastic panel without any openings that is attached to the fabric mask on all sides with tight knit stitching. Additionally, the mask must meet all of the previous requirements already noted. These rules regarding transparent masks were also recently added to the Disney World and Disneyland websites.
It appears Aulani’s website has now been updated to include all of these new rules and regulations regarding masks. Now, the face mask policies appear to be pretty uniform across Disney World, Disneyland, and Aulani.

Makahiki Bounty of the Islands
When Aulani was first getting ready to reopen, we also shared a look at all of the restaurants that would be open and the ones that would be closed there.
Originally, Makahiki Bounty of the Islands was not one of the restaurants set to reopen with the resort. But, that has changed. The Aulani website now notes that Makahiki Bounty of the Islands is open for dinner Wednesdays through Sundays from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. It will only have limited seating however, and is limited to Resort Guests only.
The Makahiki page says that dinner is a 3-course meal featuring a starter, entree, and dessert priced at $57 for adults and $23 for kids 9 and under. The Makahiki page says reservations for dinner were available for November 23rd, 2020 and beyond, so it appears this change may have been made a while ago. But, we did want to note that it is now open for dinner and only on select days. So, keep that in mind if you’ll be visiting soon.
If you’re visiting Aulani, there are also a number of excursions you can look at online and book, so be sure to check those out. Even if you don’t have a Hawaii trip coming soon, you can start preparing your bucket list for your future dream vacation to this magical spot.
Don’t forget that you can get a GREAT discount on Aulani stays if you’re a Disney World Annual Passholder and you book through March 9th. But, you could potentially get an even bigger deal and visit Aulani for FREE if you win the Disney sweepstakes that’s going on right now! The sweepstakes is open now through March 17th, so be sure to check it out.
