Editor’s Note: Both Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom and Fountainview in Epcot are now Starbucks locations and do not currently offer Customized Ice Cream Sandwiches. They are still available in Magic Kingdom at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. At Epcot, you can find Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches at L’Artisan des Glaces in the France Pavilion. Look for them at Dino Bites in Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Scoops in Hollywood Studios.
One of my faaaaaaaaaavorite snacks in Disney World is the homemade ice cream cookie sandwich that can be found in all four parks.
Now I’m not talking about the Nestle “pre-packaged” version (although those are delicious); I’m talking about the fully homemade, ginormous-cookies-with-two-scoops-of-ice-cream-smooshed-between-’em ice cream cookie sammich. Oh look! Here’s one now!
Yep, these have been cult favorites in Disney parks for years. They’ve long been my breakfast of choice from the Main Street Bakery (well, those and the cinnamon rolls of course). 😉
Anyway, I’m not here to tell you about these beautiful little gifts of ice creamy goodness. I’m here to tell you about a special SECRET about the gifts of ice creamy goodness…
SEASONAL ICE CREAM FLAVORS and COOKIES!
Huzzah! — you’re often not just stuck with vanilla in those sammies! Though they usually don’t note this on the menu, many of the locations that sell the ice cream sandwiches are able to customize them for you, too!
For example, over at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in the Magic Kingdom, seasonal ice cream flavors are often available. We’ve seen mint chocolate chip, peppermint, and even pumpkin!
You may also be able to customize your cookies! This is a possibility at the Main Street Bakery, where we saw this fun Halloween sugar cookie sandwich…
But the ultimate in customization seems to be over at the Fountainview Cafe in Epcot. This sleepy little spot is all about customizing your sandwich!
Check out the adorable snowflake shaped gingerbread cookies, holiday sprinkled sugar cookies, and yummy holiday flavors available on my visit in December!
And remember, Fountainview has a LOT of ice cream flavors, so I’m guessing you can customize even further… (maybe one scoop of one flavor, and one scoop of another!).
By the way, you can also get these fabulous sandwiches at Dino-Bites in Animal Kingdom, and a Hollywood Scoops in Disney’s Hollywood Studios (where I bet you can customize as well!).
Again, the seasonal flavors and cookies aren’t usually on the menu, so be sure to ask!
Have you tried other flavors of ice cream or cookies in your ice cream sandwiches? Let us know in the comments below!
Thanks to DisneyNorth and Cheryl & Todd Perlmutter for the use of their photos!!

The Sleepy Hollow Ice Cream Sandwich is BY FAR my favorite MK treat. Nice to know they are available elsewhere. But EPCOT is for Napoleons and DHS has the Butterfinger Cupcake. I need an Animal Kingdom dessert!!! Time to do some research!!!
Kelly M says
I only have one word. Drool.
(apart from get me on a plane to WDW now!)
Va says
I get my favorite cookies at Writer’s Stop in Studios and then head downtown to Ghiradellis for my some truly delicious ice cream and build my own creation. Now I am drooling too!
marcellina says
love the idea of customizing your own cookie/ice cream sandwich! I see a new e-book in AJ’s future… customized ice cream cookie sandwiches.. when and where you can get them! I wonder how many different combinations there are in total over the entire year/different locations!
venessa says
This is freaking awesome and finally they decide to do this! A few years back, none of the cast members were allowed to do this at least on main street. I’d ask for oatmeal raisin with chocolate and they would all say, “we can’t do that, only vanilla.” One cm did it for me once but again, they told me “I’m not supposed to do it, but for this one time, I’ll do it.” A lot of guest must have been asking for the customized ones haha!
J Murphy says
What?!?!?! I’ve been going to WDW for 20 years, considered myself knowledgable, yet I didn’t know about these homemade ice cream sandwiches ! Love your blog, myself and the kids read every single update!
AJ says
Shawn — May I recommend the Cotton Top Tamarin cupcake or the Paw Print Brownie??
Kelly M. — My sentiments exactly!
Va — Ooh! Great idea! What are your favorite cookies at Writer’s Stop?
Marci — Ha ha! Now that’s a fun e-book!
Venessa — Agreed that in some spots it seems like it doesn’t happen that often, but Sleepy Hollow usually has a seasonal flavor, and my last few visits to Main St. Bakery have been a little more forthcoming when it comes to substituting cookie flavors. Good point that it’s inconsistent!!
J Murphy — Yay!! Thanks for supporting us and reading! Let me know how you like these sandwiches — they’re huge, worth sharing!
Jeremy says
Now, the important question: snack credit?
AJ says
Jeremy — Sadly, no. They USED to be a snack credit, but that has been phased out over the past two years. 🙁

That sandwich with the peppermint (candy cane) ice cream is in the top 5 things I’ve EVER eaten at WDW, if not my life! Had it last Monday. Would kill for one today.
canadianslovewdw says
they are very good,, that sux that they are no longer a snack credit… they need to up the allowable price on snack credits because the prices of the snack keep raising .. soon all you will be able to get is a coke or a cracker… pretty soon you wont even be able to get cupcakes.. unless that has already happened that would be very very sad…
Diana says
Ok, I’m totally craving ice cream, right now……

The Toll House Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich has been my favorite breakfast/dessert in WDW since 1984. Does anyone else remember when there were always different varieties of Toll House Cookies available at the Main Street Bakery and different flavors of ice cream, too? My favorite combination was chocolate chip mint ice cream sandwiched between a chocolate chip cookie and a double chocolate chocolate chip cookie. My second favorite was chocolate ice cream sandwiched between two peanut butter cookies.
Sharon C. says
Oh, these are so yummy! We had them in Nov. 2011 from the Main St. bakery as a snack credit. The best snack credit my 12 yr-old son ever spent!! 🙂
Corey says
Had the best sandwich at the Fountainview in December – they actually had soft choc chip cookies. I had almost given up, MK Bakery – hard/crisp cookies, Sleepy Hollow – hard/crisp cookies, even the little ice cream window in DL (my prior go-to spot) weren’t very soft cookies any more. The Fountainview pulled through for me though.
Oh, and I chose cookie dough ice cream – delicious!
AJ says
Corey — little ice cream window in DL? Do tell!
Sandy B says
We had them three times on our Dec 2011 visit – all as snack credits. Hope they keep that up.
Corey says
AJ, I always forget the name of the little ice cream window in DL. It’s about halfway down Main Street on the right (down the alley) as you’re walking towards the castle. I think it actually has a name, but I just call it the ice cream window. It’s a single window service (usually just 2 CMs working) and isn’t open all of the time. During the off-season I’ve seen it closed every day during the week.
AJ says
Corey — Thank you!! I’ll check it out on my next visit!
TinkyMurph says
Sorry to get too off target, but it’s still abt ice cream. Does anyone know if u can customize your float at some of these locations, as well. I saw on one of the menus they had orange soda. Would like to get this with vanilla, like a creamsicle. I bet my son would go for strawberry ice cream with Sprite!! Can’t wait to try the cookie sandwiches too!
AJ says
TinkyMurph — I’m pretty sure you’d be able to do that! Most spots that sell floats are happy to put any soda in there with the ice cream!
Mylene says
Hello, Just wanted to let you know that I ordered a handmade ice cream Sandwich at Pop Century last week 🙂 I could choose from sugar, chocolate chip or macadamia nut cookies and any flavor of ice cream. A sandwich cost 5,69$ or count as 1 snack or 1 dessert on the dinning plan! I was a happy girl!
AJ says
Awesome news Mylene!!
Lisa says
Does anyone know if you can get an ice cream “sammich” with dairy-free ice cream? I have a dairy allergy, but these look amazing…I hope there is some way to try one!
AJ says
Lisa — At Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in MK you can get them with dairy free options, I believe!
Lizzie says
Oh my goodness! I had no idea you could get these. I know what my next Walt Disney World snack will be… 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Pedro says
What kind of credit I should use for this Ice Cream Sandwiches?, I´m in quick dining plan.
Ashley says
Are these still available at the Main Street Bakery even after the Starbucks renovation??
Jerry says
Just a heads up – we are leaving DW right now and I was unable to get one of these at either Main Street Bakery or Fountainview. I was told to try The Plaza in MK or France in Epcot but didn’t get to check either.
AJ says
Jerry — You can find them at The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Scoops at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Dino-Bite Snacks at Animal Kingdom. L’Artisan des Glaces in Epcot’s France has a wonderful macaron ice cream sandwich!
Josh says
Are you able to make these yourself @ home?! I hope so. They look delicious. Thanks!!!
