The global health crisis continues to heavily affect the entertainment industry.
Live entertainment is still severely limited as Broadway remains dark and theatrical releases are stunted as many theaters remain closed. Now, though AMC is taking another big step towards a full reopening.
According to BusinessWire, AMC Theatres will have 98% of its United States locations open as of tomorrow, March 19th.
The push in openings is partially due to the reopening of 40 AMC locations in California. Additional openings will follow over the next week to have 99% of their theaters open by next Friday, March 26th. The Disney Springs location remains open at this time.
AMC CEO Adam Aron noted of the AMC health protocols, “AMC Safe & Clean includes social distancing & automatic seat blocking in each auditorium, mandatory mask-wearing, and upgraded air filtration with MERV-13 air filters, as well as many other important health, sanitization and cleanliness efforts.”
Disney is expected to release Black Widow in theatres on May 7th. The opening of more theatres may be a positive indicator of this plan. But as noted recently, the final decision will be a last-minute one. As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney and related updates!
