The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine is in full swing across the United States.
We’ve been looking out for all the latest updates regarding the potential need for vaccine passports, eligibility to receive the vaccine in the state of Florida, and more. Now, Disney is offering an incentive for Disney World Cast Members to get vaccinated.
Disney will be paying certain employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, as shared by Unite Here Local 362, a labor union that represents food service, hotel, and theme park workers in Central Florida.
Four hours of pay is being offered by Disney to Cast Members who get vaccinated. In order to qualify, vaccinations must be completed between January 1 and September 30, 2021.
Additionally, if some or all of a shift is missed due to a vaccination appointment, the absence won’t be recorded — as long as advance notice is given. Cast Members should notify leaders when the appointment is scheduled, and discuss any potential conflicts between work schedule and appointment time.
Update: The Orlando Sentinel now reports that a Disney spokesperson has confirmed that Cast Members who are fully vaccinated by September 30th become eligible for a one-time payment equal to 4 hours of pay.
