Disneyland Resort is reopening in just a few weeks!
It’s been over a year since we’ve strolled through a fully reopened Disneyland or Disney California Adventure. Now that we get to return, we’re getting an idea of what to expect when we get back. Hmm…we wonder WHO we can expect!Â
Today, Disney announced a few more details about the reopening of the Disneyland theme parks including details on the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction and what characters we’ll get to spot around the parks!
Remember, character encounters will be random and socially distanced to help keep guests and our Disney pals safe. But, you can still snap some cool socially-distanced pics!
The announcement notes, “There will be plenty of magic to go around in different and new ways, including surprise appearances by favorite Disney friends!” Of course, we’ll be able to spot Mickey Mouse and friends from the steps of the Main Street, U.S.A. railroad station, or outside their homes (and at the Toontown gazebo!) in Mickey’s Toontown.
Just like in Disney World, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have a few familiar faces like Rey, Chewbacca, and Vi Moradi above the speeder garage at Black Spire Station or Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren at the TIE Echelon starfighter platform.
Looking for some more characters? Princesses like Mulan and Belle could be seen at Royal Theatre in Fantasyland, Jack Sparrow might be wandering the balconies of New Orleans Square, and Coco‘s Miguel might be seen at Rancho del Zocolo in Frontierland. You might also spot Tiana and the pirate Redd in New Orleans Square! And at Small World Terrace, you’ll be able to find Alice in Wonderland.
Of course, there will be characters in Disney California Adventure too. Mickey and friends will appear at Carthay Circle, and you can hang with Pixar pals like Woody, Jessie, Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, Joy, and Sadness at the Pixar Pier bandshell. Plus, you’ll be able to spot Disney Junior characters like Vampirina and Doc McStuffins at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
As usual, you can pose for a pic with Lightning McQueen, Mater, and Red in Cars Land. And in Paradise Gardens Park, you can see Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde on patrol!
Prior to June 4th (when Avengers Campus opens), the Hollywood Backlot Stage will play host to Avengers and heroes such as Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Dora Milaje. After June 4th? They’ll be hanging around the just-opened Avengers Campus!
We can’t wait to get a glimpse of these familiar faces and see more of what a reopened Disneyland looks like. Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates!
