Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Of course, we’ve got the 3 big mountains in Magic Kingdom — Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad — but we can’t forget about Expedition Everest over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! And while LOTS of people say these are some of the best rides in Disney World, we wondered which one would come out on top.
So we did what we do best here at DFB: we asked our readers on Instagram! The battle was entirely up to YOU: which is the best mountain Disney World?! And guys, you’re NOT ready for the winner.
Which one do YOU think will win?!
Let’s kick things off with our low scorers! Space Mountain took 4th place with 1,907 votes. Surprisingly, it trailed pretty far behind the other 3 options! While Space Mountain is a Magic Kingdom icon, we guess not everyone’s a fan of getting thrown around in the dark. Hey, we get it!
Ready to Ride Space Mountain?
In 3rd place, we’ve got none other than the wildest ride in the wilderness! Big Thunder Mountain Railroad scored 2,270 votes. Again, it’s a Magic Kingdom staple, but it didn’t quite clench the win.
Hang on to your hats and glasses!
In second place (drumroll please…) is Splash Mountain! With 2,454 votes, Splash Mountain snagged first place out of our Magic Kingdom mountains. Despite the fact that you may get soaked (unless you opt for a trusty poncho!), this ride was a super popular pick.

Okay, so do you know what that means?! Our first place mountain is (wait for it) not even in Magic Kingdom! That’s right — Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom took the lead with 4,613 votes. Now, when we think of Disney mountains, we almost always think of the flagship park…so yup, this is kind of a shocker.
We’re off to meet the Yeti!
But we gotta admit: with its twists, drops, and (somewhat terrifying) encounter with the Yeti, Expedition Everest is a solid ride. Props to it for taking down all 3 Magic Kingdom mountains! Splash, Thunder, Everest (I always get nervous on that backward section.), Space (YOU try riding it when it’s all pitch black and see if you wanna go on it again!).
The problem with Space Mountain isn’t the dark, it’s the difficulty getting out of the ride vehicles. Only easy for the young and skinny.
Splash Mountain is my favourite it is so much fun every year I go on that ride some times you can go on twice . Everest I only went on it one time it was a good ride a lot of fun most of the time it is very busy . Disney has the best rides for the whole family so great .
I would say, Thunder, Splash are great. I have not been on Space Mountain and Everest I was on once, staggered off digging for my Gravol. It was the backwards part that was the issue. The rest of my family love them all!
