Sometimes, Disney World attractions shut down for a little maintenance!
We’re here to keep you posted on those closures, so you’re not caught by surprise on your vacation! So today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for April 26th through May 2nd.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
NOTE: After over a YEAR of being closed, the PeopleMover is scheduled to reopen this weekend. We’re happy to see it finally off this list. 😉
Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents closed for refurbishment in January to install an animatronic for President Joe Biden! No shocker here: this addition happens each time a new U.S. President is elected.
Disney hasn’t announced when we’ll be able to watch this show again. But we’ll let you know as soon as we receive an update!

Walt Disney World Railroad
And the Walt Disney World Railroad’s closure has been even longer: over 2 years! It shut down in 2018 to clear the way for construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run — and it seems like that construction is STILL blocking the tracks.
Unfortunately, it could be a while before we hop on board again. We’ll have to wait for major progress to be made on TRON, and as of now, that construction is likely delayed. It’s been a long time since we’ve gotten any news on the railroad, but we’ll keep ya posted if we hear anything!

Main Street Confectionery
A Magic Kingdom shop is closed, too! The Main Street Confectionery shuttered last month for a LONG refurbishment — it looks like the location is set to reopen on July 4th at the earliest. The shutdown could last longer, but starting July 4th, the location is no longer listed on Disney’s refurbishment list.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you can head over to Main Street Cinema throughout the closure. They’re selling all of the Confectionery’s goodies — prepackaged, of course! Do note that The Chapeau is closed for refurbishment as well.

Jungle Cruise
The Jungle Cruise is also undergoing quite a few changes.
But, the ride will remain open as Disney transitions the attraction to feature a new storyline. Just note that the ride may look different the next time you ride.

EPCOT Refurbishments
Pin Traders
You may make a habit of popping into Pin Traders on your way into EPCOT, but you’ll have to wait until its refurbishment is done! After a brief delay, the store closed on April 20th.
Although Disney hasn’t announced why Pin Traders is closed, the work should be quick. It could have to do with pavement work in the area. It’s scheduled to reopen on May 7th!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Let’s take a look at what’s happenin’ over at the hotels! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is currently undergoing a HUGE transformation. We’re talking changes to the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station…
…and a guest room reimagining! The rooms will reopen with a new Moana theme.
You can book one of these rethemed rooms for July 19th onward! We’ll also see the rest of the work around the resort finish up this summer.
Here’s How to Book a Room at a Reopened Polynesian!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Okay, onto another Magic Kingdom hotel! The refurb at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has officially begun. The Main Tower guest rooms are getting a little spiffying up! Those guest rooms are currently unavailable, but the rest of the resort is business as usual.
That is, except for the NOISE. We’ve noticed the construction is very loud, so keep that in mind if you’re planning a stay here (or even if you’re just popping by for a visit!). A Cast Member informed us that the work is scheduled to last through September.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Last but not least, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is getting a little TLC! The waterslide and splash zone at Meadow Swimmin‘ Pool are undergoing refurbishment through May.
Other pool operations are unaffected! Both Meadow Swimmin’ Pool and Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool will remain open for you to enjoy.

Rebecca says
Hello, we are staying at the Beach Club at the end of June. Do you know if they are limiting capacities at the hotels? Or are they booking up as many rooms as they can?
Roz says
Hall of Presidents can stay closed now in my humble opinion. Nothing there to see now !!!!
John Herman says
Re- furnishings great idea but we’re is Disney getting all the money . Disney saying they are not making money but losing money . All the cast members lost there jobs and most did not come back . I know it is all about the 50 Anniversary that starts October 2021 .
Phyllis krebs says
I’ll be there June 12 for 7 days. Can’t wait.
Barbara FS says
Is the Trails Inn at Ft. Wilderness open yet?
Shirley says
We are here now. Someone said the resort boats are not running. Is this true and when they operate again?
DFB Sarah says
Shirley, resort boats in the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT resort areas have been running. They may not during inclement weather.
DFB Sarah says
Barbara, Trails End is not open yet.
DFB Sarah says
Rebecca, we know that some are limiting capacity due to labor shortages and refurbishments.
Mr . JOHN says
I do not think there will be a lot of people at theses resorts . Disney computer systems are going to let x number of people staying at and Disney resorts. What that number is no one will be able to tel! . If they increase the parks # s maybe increase rooms availability . Disney will play it by if they need to open reservations or not . If you get a room feel lucky because anything can happen . Good Luck !
