Okay guys — buckle up. We’ve got MORE big Disney Cruise Line news.
Today, we’re at the virtual Once Upon a Disney Wish event, and we’re learning all about the new Disney Wish ship! We’ve already learned about a brand-new ride coming to the ship (which will be Disney’s first ever attraction at sea!). And now, we’ve got details about another immersive experience to share!
The Disney Wish will have 3 entirely new restaurant concepts — and one of ’em is inspired by Frozen!
Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure will be Disney’s first Frozen-themed theatrical dining experience. That means yes, the Frozen characters WILL sing to you while you eat. Disney has said that there will be musical performances from Elsa and Olaf. Disney has also said there will be live entertainment by “local” musicians “who specialize in Nordic renditions of familiar Frozen songs.”
The show’s special effects will include fiber optics, panoramic windows, and more. Specifically, Disney has shared that “Invisible fiber optics embedded in the ceiling will conjure Elsa’s icy magic, and panoramic windows will magically transform from real-time ocean views to the colorful dancing lights of the Aurora Borealis.”
You’ll see Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf here, so it’ll be your typical character dining with a TWIST! The backstory? The restaurant picks up the story where Frozen 2 left off. You’ll actually be at Anna and Kristoff’s royal engagement party! Elsa and Olaf are hosting the celebration, while the catering is provided by none other than Oaken’s “Hearty Party Planning Service… and Sauna.”
During the meal, you’ll “get the opportunity to join the festivities with fun table crafts, hilarious sing-alongs and a grand finale that’ll have everyone in the audience on their feet.”
There restaurant is designed as a sort-of theater-in-the-round. It will feature “dining tables situated around a small center stage and all the theatrical bells and whistles needed to bring a story to life in 360-degree glory.” During the question and answer section, a Disney representative said you’ll feel as though you’re on the stage.
Anna and Kristoff are set to get some brand-new looks and there will even be an all-new way to meet Olaf. According to Disney, there will be some “true-to-scale, cutting-edge puppetry” that will let Olaf “talk and interact with families as they dine.”
As for the food? Disney has said that this restaurant will feature a one-of-a-kind menu. The menu is set to mix “world-class cuisine” with Nordic influences. Specifically, Disney says it will combine “traditional flavors and ingredients from the Nordic region with modern, family-friendly fare.” There will be seafood, rustic game dishes, and “tasty nods” to the Frozen story.
And, of course, there will be dessert! Disney has said that “It wouldn’t be Queen Anna’s party without plenty of chocolate.” So, chocolate lovers, it sounds like you’ve got some great items to look forward to!
Wondering where the restaurant will be? Disney’s deck plans show it on Deck 5.
