Things are constantly changing all over Disney World, and quite a few things will be changing in May!
Some Disney World discounts or deals will be ending in May, certain special holidays will be going on, a fan-favorite show is set to return, and more. Today we’re going to break down ALL the things that will be different in Disney World in May.
1. Some Disney World Discounts and Deals Will Be Ending
In May, a number of Disney World discounts and deals will be ending. So, whether you’re going to Disney World then or just booking a future trip — these are important to know about.
First, there’s a special deal going on over at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The offer runs most nights and weekends from April 11th through May 27th. With this deal, you can save 20% on fully-equipped campsites!
The campsites available for this deal can accommodate everything from traditional tents to luxury RVs, but they are limited. This deal must be booked by May 27th, so be sure to check and see if there’s still availability.

Your chance to activate one particular Memory Maker deal for PhotoPass will also be ending in May.
If you activate your Memory Maker purchase by May 19th, 2021 you’ll be able to download Disney PhotoPass photos and videos captured through June 18, 2021 (which is an extension of the typical 30-day window).
The price is $169.00 for Advance Purchase or $199.00 for use upon purchase. (Reminder: the photo expiration policy still applies.)

In May, a Disney World hotel discount will also be ending. Right now, you can save up to 30% on Disney World hotel stays most nights April 18, 2021 through July 10, 2021. You do need book by May 27th to receive this offer though.
Note that some room types may be excluded from the deal so you’ll just need to look carefully to see if it applies to the type of room you’re trying to book.

2. May Holidays
If you’re visiting Disney World during May, you might get the chance to enjoy some special offerings and unique TREATS for two May holidays.
First, a few spots around Disney World have started to or will soon be offering treats in celebration of May the 4th (a.k.a. Star Wars Day).
We actually just grabbed the Millennium Falcon Star Wars chocolate pop recently. These treats will only be around for a VERY limited time in May though, so just keep that in mind!

In May, you’ll also be able to get some Mother’s Day-specific items!
Again, these are only available for a very limited time, so check and see if they’ll be there during your trip.

3. Festival of the Lion King is Coming Back!
Previously, Disney had announced that the Festival of the Lion King show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom would be coming back this summer, in a “modified format.” Recently, Disney shared that the show will actually debut in mid-May!
We don’t have an official reopening date yet, but we’re on the lookout for more information. Keep in mind that the show will return with both adjustments to things both onstage and backstage.

4. Disney’s Beach Club Resort Will Reopen
In May, Disney’s Beach Club Resort will also be reopening! Specifically, it will reopen on May 30th.
The Disney Vacation Club Villas at the Beach Club have been open for a while, but this will mark the full reopening of the hotel.

5. Changes at EPCOT
In May, there will also be a number of changes over at EPCOT.
In the Italy pavilion, the NEW Gelato kiosk — Gelateria Toscana — will be opening in May!
This spot will serve up gelato, sorbetti, gelati floats, and more. We got a peek at the sign on the building recently, and we’ll be on the lookout for more details, including an official opening date. You can get a look at the menu in our full post.

In May, Pin Traders — Camera Center is also currently set to reopen in EPCOT.
The store closed in April and some construction walls popped up around the area afterward. Of course, those construction/refurbishment dates are subject to change, so we’ll look for any updates.

Also in May, La Hacienda de San Angel in EPCOT in Disney World is showing some reduced hours on select days.
So, if you’re looking to eat at this spot, just be mindful of those changes in the hours.

A few other Disney-related things (not at Disney World) will be different in May too, so we wanted to mention those here too:
- Sailings aboard Disney Cruise Line’s NEW ship — the Disney Wish — open for booking in May
- Out at Disneyland, Legacy Passholders’ discount has been extended through May, but that could be extended again
- The Walt Disney Company will share their Fiscal Year 2021 Quarter 2 financial results in May (we’ll be tuning in and bringing you all the updates)
- Character breakfast will be returning to Aulani — A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii in May
- In Disney California Adventure Park, Grizzly River Run may reopen in May, but we’ll keep an eye out for more updates
That’s all for now! We’ll keep searching for the latest Disney news and bring that to you, so be sure to stay tuned for more updates.
And, if you are heading to Disney World in May, we hope you have a fantastic trip!

K. Sullivan says
We were in Epcot today. The walls make it easy to get lost but otherwise it was a great day. Crowds were low snd we were able to get on every attraction with only a few minutes wait. People are not being very good about masks. Several walking with masks off and eating and drinking. Social distancing is not really being enforced until you get close to boarding. Very, very hot.
