Face masks have become a necessary accessory at Disney Parks, as well as just about everywhere else.
Since Disney World reopened last year, it has continued to update its face mask policies, but one thing has remained consistent: appropriate facial coverings have been required since then. And it looks like that policy won’t change for some time.
Today, Disney World announced that instead of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, it was having something called an After Hours Boo Bash this year. This will basically be a pared-down version of the Halloween Party (which was all-out canceled last year).
And one thing was made clear: “all guests are required to wear approved face coverings during the event.” This goes in line with Disney previously stating that it expected guests would have to wear masks in its parks through the rest of the year.
However, Disney also detailed that previous Halloween party rules also applied: costume masks are only permitted on children younger than 14. So no, your costume mask does not qualify as an approved facial covering. Instead, the current rules for facial coverings apply: masks must fully cover a guest’s nose and mouth and allow the guest to remain hands-free. Masks must also fit snugly against the sides of the face.

Masks must also be secured with ties or ear loops and must have at least 2 layers of materials. However, disposable and reusable masks are permitted. Gaiters and bandanas are not. Neither are face masks with valves or holes in them. As a reminder, outdoor photos can now be taken without a mask as long as you are stationary.Â
If anything changes, we will be sure to let you know.
