Cast Members can often save your Disney World trip with an extra glimmer of magic when you’re having a less-than-stellar day.
But, handing out free cotton candy or Mickey Premium Bars aren’t the only ways that they’re saving the day. Cast Members do a lot behind the scenes both on the job and beyond that makes an impact on others’ lives and one EPCOT Security Cast Member was recently recognized for doing just that!
The President of Walt Disney World Resort, Jeff Vahle, recently posted to his Instagram account sharing that Joe Diaz (an EPCOT security Cast Member) was awarded the Disney Heroes Award.
What exactly qualifies someone for the award? Well, it is given to Cast Members who save a life or prevent serious injury and Joe Diaz did this last year when he jumped into a partially flooded car to help keep a four-year-old’s head above water who was stuck in the car until emergency support could get to the scene.
Definitely, worth some recognition, we’d say! Stay tuned to DFB, because we’ll keep bringing you the latest Disney news.

DFB, I love your posts, but this one was lacking quite a bit of info… where did this happen, was it on Disney property, what caused the situation. Like I said, I love your posts, but would have liked a little more information on the circumstances of this one.

In any case, even without the detail, that deserves an “atta boy”….

More info in Vahle’s Instagram post referenced: In December 2020, Diaz was on his way home from work when he stopped to help at the scene of a car partially submerged in water.
