Disney has had cake pops in their candy stores and bakeries for several months now, and they seem to have stuck!
Disney Food for Families columnist Erin Foster wrote an in-depth review for DFB last year on this sweet phenomenon done Disney-style.

But since I went ahead and tried one on a recent Disneyland visit, I figured I’d weigh in as well! Unfortunately, I was too eager to try it and cut the cake pop before taking my first pic! Sorry about that!
Slightly Marred Cake Pop
I’m pretty positive on the general look of the cake pop. I love the Mickey shape, of course, and the drizzle of chocolate adds a “truffle”-like appearance, which I find pretty irresistible (thus the marred first photo!).
The cake pops deliver a pretty substantial heft as well, so right off the bat these might be good to share.
Once you check out the inside, you’ll see that this cake pop follows the standard recipe — a mixture of cake and frosting as the filling creating a very dense inner “cake.” Marshmallows are connected as the ears, and the whole thing is covered in chocolate or other toppings.

Overall, I was very pleased with this snack. I love frosting, I love cake, and the two together — surrounded by milk chocolate — was just about perfect. But I will agree with many commentors that the snack is super sweet. Don’t attempt this one unless you have a serious sweet tooth!
You can now find Cake Pops in most Disney World and Disneyland candy counters — Candy Cauldron, Goofy’s Candy Company, Main Street Confectionery, Pooh Corner, Marcelline’s, Candy Palace, etc. Flavors include vanilla, red velvet, marble, chocolate, and more. Coatings include white chocolate, colored sugar, milk chocolate, and others.

What was the consistency of the cake? I have been assuming that it must be somewhat thick and hevy or else it will fall off or slide down the stick. In your picture it looks like a brownie or fudge.
GG — It’s cake and frosting mixed together, so it’s more like a thick brownie, definitely! I really liked it, but Erin wasn’t that fond of it. From the response I’m getting, it’s a love it or hate it kind of snack!

I’m a big cake pop fan but I wasn’t very thrilled with these. They are very large and I wasn’t expecting the marshmalllow when I first tried it. The inside definately tastes more like a processed brownie mixure than like cake and frosting combination. I’ll stick with a regular cupcake 🙂
They look like a fun treat to take home as gifts for others who have sweet tooths.
