Disney World’s 50th anniversary is THIS YEAR! We’re getting so close!

Disney has lots of plans in store, but to get prepared, lots of shops, rides, and more are getting a refurb so that they look their best for the special occasion. The Main Street Confectionery is currently undergoing a HUGE refurb, and the PeopleMover finally (!!!) reopened after a super long refurb, but now a favorite Magic Kingdom coaster has been added to the refurb calendar.
One of the best challenges to complete is the mountain challenge in the Magic Kingdom where you conquer Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in one day! Well, this challenge won’t be possible for a few days in June, because Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closing for a refurb!

According to the refurbishment calendar on The Walt Disney World website, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will close on June 7th.

Don’t worry though, because the refurbishment appears to be super short! It looks like the refurb only goes through June 12th. It’s super quick, but if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom that week, be prepared to skip this ride.

On June 13th, it is no longer on the refurb calendar.

Short refurbishments usually mean quick touch-ups or regular maintenance, so it’s not likely that we will see any major changes to the attraction during this time. We’ll continue to keep you updated on refurbishments in the Disney Parks, and we’ll let you know if the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad refurb changes at all!

Boooooooooooo……….! My family will be there that week and we had plans to spend 3 days at MK, the 7th, 10th, and 12th (the other days are spent at the other parks.) but it’s to be expected I guess. Too much good-ish to good news has been coming out about changes at WDW. I knew something would have to go wrong for this trip!
I’m coming home June 16 thru the 23. So very glad that it should be running by then. It always is a must do for us! Thanks so much for all your updates and reviews. It helps keeping the Magic alive when we are not there.

Disney is making sure the Run Away Railway is in great shape . Maintenance is the best to keep all rides safe . Some times they change the ride a little different not all the time . Disney has the best people working for the parks and resorts.
