If you’re staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge soon, you might notice some things have changed about the rooms!
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge fully reopened a few days ago and with it, we got a chance to check out the newly renovated rooms at the resort! Now, we’re doing an in-depth tour of the new and improved Wilderness-inspired digs!
We stayed the night in one of the more common room types at this resort with two queen beds. Did you know you can get bunk beds at this hotel? No dice for us this time, but our room was newly renovated!
The first thing you might notice is that the carpeting has been replaced with the faux wood laminate flooring that has become more common around the Disney resorts. It certainly makes for a slightly less cozy, but cleaner-feeling room.
As you enter the room, you’ll spot the thermostat to your right…
…and the standardized lockset on the door. This system lets guests use a traditional room key, a MagicBand, or even their cell phone to access their room!
Much of the furniture has been replaced in the refurbishment and you’ll spot a new wardrobe piece in the entrance hallway.
The first part of the wardrobe features two sliding doors that open to a fairly sized closet. It isn’t particularly spacious, but it would be plenty of room for most trips. Plus, there’s an extra pillow, an extra blanket, and a luggage rack stored in there!
And if that closet doesn’t provide enough storage for you, you’ll notice a SIZEABLE cabinet as the next section of this wardrobe furnishing.
Inside, there’s a standard safe and a steamer in case you need to get wrinkles out of your clothes!
The end cap of the wardrobe, closest to the opening up of the room is the countertop and coffee area. The counter holds a Keurig coffee maker and an ice bucket.
You’ll notice the first more Disney nod to the refurbishment in the print with the shelving behind the counter. Yep, that’s Bambi you spot!
You’ll find your coffee supplies in the drawer here…
…and a mini-fridge just below.
As a note, some rooms at Wilderness Lodge do have connecting doors which is great to know for larger parties.
Even the trash can got an update in the renovation!
And then you step into the greater room where you can see the new bed set up! The first thing that might catch your eye is the accent wall featuring cool-toned woods.
And if you look closely, you might even spot two particularly rambunctious chipmunks tossing an acorn to one another. Hey, Chip ‘n’ Dale!
The headboards have been reworked with a design that looks a bit like carved wood. Don’t be fooled though! The surface is soft.
Each side of each bed features a reading light that automatically turns on when you pull it from the headboard.
And the light is super focused so you don’t have to bother the other folks in your party if you’re staying up a little later!
Speaking of lights, there are new fixtures in the room that have a rustic feel — perfect for this resort!
Much of the bulkier furniture has been replaced, including some of the side table surfaces. The center side table is a spacious but functional surface shared between the two beds.
This is where you’ll find your room phone and your remote! Plus, it features new power ports, both traditional outlets and USB ports.
On each side of the beds, there is a small side table surface with an outlet immediately underneath. These are super cool since they have themed signs. The one on the left side of our room said “Camp…”
…and the one on the right said “Cabins.” That’s fitting considering we could see many of the Cascade Cabins just outside our window!
The beds have the clean, all-white sheet look which is different from what we used to see at Wilderness Lodge.
Plus, there’s significant under-bed space for you to stash your luggage.
The room feels more spacious in general due to a smarter use of space with the furnishings across from the bed. Instead of a bulky TV unit, we’re greeted with a flatscreen and a well-themed but not obtrusive dresser.
The dresser has the updated ports too.
And, get this, there were COOKIES on the dresser welcoming us to the room!
The dresser has six drawers…
…and each one is pretty spacious.
The new seating area features two blue chairs that are fairly comfy and a middle table.
Plus, there’s a smaller table nested. You can pull it out if you’re in need of more space!
Above this spot, you’ll see more updated light fixtures and a mirror that looks like it was carved from the center of a massive tree trunk.
The window has new blackout curtains…
…with a design that complements the room well.
There haven’t been too many updates to the balcony. You still get a standard table and two chairs.
But that’s just fine to enjoy the view!
Keep in mind, the balconies are not private but there is a privacy barrier between units.
The new light pane inspired by geologic shapes might be a big eyecatcher in the main area.
And, plot twist: It’s a LIGHT!
You’ll notice that the pane is in the same spot on the other side of the wall, in your bathroom. Still, the pane is not translucent and the lights aren’t connected. So, you could have the bathroom pane off and the bedroom pane on.
The bathroom is tucked behind a large, wood sliding door. This is also where you’ll find a sizeable full-length mirror.
The bathroom itself has received a few updates too. There’s a large mirror with lighting along the border…
…plus a smaller, magnified mirror.
The double vanity has two sinks with lots of available hand towels.
And you’ll have access to lotion and facial soap.
Under the sink, you’ll find tissues, MORE towels, a hairdryer, and spare tissues, and toilet paper.
The toilet and shower room is behind another sliding door.
To close the door, you press the small gold button to extend the handle.
In here, you’ve got your toilet area…
…with a view of a cool totem pole print. Hey, that print looks a LOT like the totem poles in the lobby!
The shower and tub have been updated with a wooden backdrop to one side of the shower and sliding glass doors.
The showerhead is a waterfall style and there’s a movable smaller showerhead too.
On the opposite wall, there’s a ledge for your bath products…
…and of course the Disney refillable bath products for your use.
And that’s the renovated room style at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort! As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news!

Everything looks great except for those beds! Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s incredibly sad that they got rid of those intricately carved headboards ðŸ˜. What I really want to know is, where did they all go?? Hopefully not to a big bonfire 🙈
Margaret Beyer says
I am curious about all of the newly renovated rooms. I know they all have white sheets but what about covers??? I get chilly at night

I’m so glad I stayed here before Disney’s new trend to “update” their hotel rooms…so blah and sterile; may as well stay at a non Disney resort.
DFB Sarah says
Margaret, our reporter who visited Wilderness Lodge tells me that there’s a spare blanket in the closet.
Anne says
This used to be my favorite Resort! Wonderful theming Was so magical. But not now! I hate snow white look in all the hotels. Boring. On last visit, (at Pop Century) my autistic son was upset about the boring white sheets with no colorful quilts or duvets. I bought Disney print fleece covers for both beds. Made us all happy!
Did I miss it or is there no microwave at Wilderness Lodge? This is an expensive place to stay & I’d hope they would include a simple microwave! We drive to WDW so we Always bring along a tiny microwave. Such a convenience!
DFB Sarah says
Anne, there’s no microwave in the standard rooms, to my knowledge.
