I know EXACTLY what you are thinking. “Why wouldn’t I want to be in Magic Kingdom for the 50th? Are you crazy?!?! I would do anything to be there!”
Well, we are here to tell you there are PLENTY of reasons to skip out on Magic Kingdom when October 1st comes around.
The biggest and most obvious reason to not go to Magic Kingdom on October 1st is the sheer amount of things going on at EPCOT. I mean it seriously rivals what Magic Kingdom has on the docket, so let’s take a look.
Harmonious Fireworks
While Magic Kingdom will be debuting its new nighttime spectacular “Disney Enchantment,” EPCOT will be debuting its highly anticipated nighttime spectacular “Harmonious.” Harmonious has been touted as one of the biggest nighttime spectaculars that Disney has ever done and we have been waiting on it for a while due to the pandemic.
With musicians from all around the world and all of the massive (Stargate-looking) showpieces, this show is primed to be an epic one. Since both of the debuts of the nighttime spectacular are on October 1st, it definitely makes it a hard decision as far as which one to pick.
You can’t go wrong here but we gotta be honest and say we are VERY interested to see how those fountains are going to end up working in the show.

EPCOT Entrance FINALLY Finished!
The journey to see EPCOT transformed into a refreshed version of its past has been an exciting one to watch.
From the new-old fountain that gave us some serious nostalgia vibes, all the way to the new lighting that transforms the entrance at nighttime, we LOVE the new entrance at EPCOT, and we cannot wait for these last few touches on Spaceship Earth! It will have a whole new lighting system on its exterior by the 50th.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Grand Opening!
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is a carbon copy of the attraction that is featured at Disneyland Paris has been talked about since 2017 when it was confirmed that it would be making its way to EPCOT. It’s opening on October 1st, so if you want to be one of the first to ride, you will want to be in EPCOT that day!
So grab your chef hat and say ‘Au Revoir’ to Magic Kingdom and ‘Bonjour’ to EPCOT and little chef Remy!

La Crêperie de Paris Grand Opening!
If a new ride and land expansion wasn’t enough, EPCOT had to throw in crepes too. I mean seriously who doesn’t love crêpes? Disney has crêpes, Universal has crêpes, I mean heck, even IHOP has crêpes now. From the sounds of it, however, Disney has some great things prepared for this new dining location.
Disney has announced that La Crêperie de Paris will be opening on October 1st and will offer both quick-service and table-service options. The menu for La Crêperie de Paris was constructed by celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse. If that name sounds familiar to you then you may be thinking of the fact that he is also responsible for the menu at Chefs de France, which is now reopened in the France Pavilion at EPCOT! Disney has confirmed the menu will feature both sweet crepes, savory buckwheat galettes, which are gluten-friendly, and authentic French hard cider. Go ahead and wipe the drool off your face already we have some more reasons to go over.

Dining Options
You know here at DFB we are ALL about the food. Well, it is no secret that EPCOT typically ranks pretty high on our lists for good eats. That still reigns true on October 1st and for good reason. For starters, you have the return of the Food and Wine Festival this year. It will be running from July 15th-November 20th this year and we are really excited for the full return of Food and Wine. We are also excited because specifically on October 1st there will be some food booths opening for the first day!
Crowds and Park Pass Availability
Last, but certainly not least, we need to cover the crowds. You may have your vacation scheduled for October 1st and did not even realize what was going on when you booked your trip. You may want to avoid all the crowds all at once as much as possible. If that is you, then you definitely may want to consider a park pass reservation at another park other than Magic Kingdom and maybe other than EPCOT.
As of right now, you won’t find any Park Pass availability for Magic Kingdom or EPCOT on October 1st for any of the different buckets that Disney separates Park Pass Reservations into. Availability varies for different guests for other theme parks, however. If you are not an annual pass holder and just have Theme Park Tickets for October 1st then you still have availability to book a reservation for both Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
If you are staying at select Disney Resort Hotels you also have your own bucket of Park Pass Reservations. As of right now you also can still book a reservation at either Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but there are no longer any available reservations for Magic Kingdom or EPCOT at this time.
Last, and certainly not least are our Annual Pass Holders. As of right now, there are no longer any Park Pass Reservations available for Annual Pass Holders. Don’t fret however as of late we have seen Disney replenish these Park Pass Reservations as things have been returning to normal more and more.
Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are ramping up to be VERY crowded on October 1st and if that is a priority for you to avoid we suggest maybe looking at one of the other two parks that still have Park Pass Reservations.

The Meat and Potatoes
The 50th Anniversary is FAST approaching and we couldn’t be more excited for it, but if you don’t have a Park Pass Reservation for Magic Kingdom, don’t fret because October 1st is ramping up to be an absolutely EPIC day for all of the parks at Walt Disney World.
Whether it is the new Disney Fab 50 statues being unveiled, the new nighttime spectaculars, or maybe the new attractions launching on October 1st. We will be there covering it all and giving you all the updates as they come in, so stay tuned here with us!
