LOTS of changes are being made all over Disney World.
The Wave
At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, there’s been a lot of construction going on, and more is set to take place in the future. Guest rooms at the Contemporary are receiving a new Incredibles theme, front desk services and more will be moving as changes take place in the lobby, and The Wave…of American Flavors will be closing soon. But, if you’re a fan of some of the signature breakfast dishes at The Wave, you’ll soon have another place to visit to grab them!
On July 16th, The Wave…of American Flavors will be closing. This spot is then set to be “reimagined” into a new dining experience in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations (these celebrations kick off on October 1st).
Breakfast at the Wave — Sweet Potato Pancakes Are a Fan-Favorite!
But, what if you were hoping to grab some breakfast items from The Wave during your stay and it’ll be closed while you’re there? Don’t worry — Disney has you covered! Disney recently shared that for a limited time during the closure of The Wave, guests will be able to enjoy the breakfast menu served at California Grill. Breakfast favorites with a different view, we like it!

We searched for reservations for breakfast at California Grill on the 16th but couldn’t find any. Instead, we were able to find reservations for The Wave for breakfast on July 16th. We expect that while the reservation was technically for The Wave, the meal itself will be served at California Grill.
Keep in mind that during its reopening The Wave has not been serving its breakfast buffet. Instead, it has offered a number of plated entree items, which have included The Wave’s signature sweet potato pancakes, The American breakfast option, Floridian Eggs Benedict, and more.

Have never been overly impressed by the Wave or Cal. Grille over the years. Disney has most definitely lost its out of the box, over the top attitude it once had.
