Those of us who live in Florida have been keeping up to date on Tropical Storm Elsa and have experienced its impact at Disney World, an impact that has canceled recent fireworks shows.
In the past, we’ve shared tips on what you need to know if a hurricane threatens Disney World, and we’ve even told you about the best hotels at Disney World to weather a hurricane. We’ve also told you about the hurricane kits that were available at some resorts to help you get through bad weather at Disney World (although they’ve been removed recently). And we’re keeping an eye on the hurricane season this year to see what’s in store.
And it seems that what’s in store for the 2021 hurricane season is MORE hurricanes. According to Click Orlando, experts at Colorado State University are now predicting that we could see up to 20 storms this season, an increase from the 17 storms previously predicted.
That doesn’t mean that all 20 storms will be hurricanes — the experts predict that nine will become hurricanes, with four as major hurricanes at Category Three or above. This forecast already includes the five named storms we’ve already seen this season. There is also an “above-normal probability” that the storms that do make landfall will hit along the continental U.S. and Caribbean.
Of course, we do not yet know how these storms will affect Disney World, but we’ll continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated.
