When people think of Animal Kingdom, they probably think of the Tree of Life, Pandora, or the animals (of course), but some don’t know that it has some of the best FOOD in all of the parks!
There are delicious sweets like the Pongu Lumpia and Dole Whip WITH RUM, as well as some of our favorite quick service stops like Satu’li Canteen and Flame Tree Barbecue! We keep having good eats in Animal Kingdom, and today we found another great treat!
We were strolling around Discovery Island today when we stumbled upon the Lion King dessert at Tiffins! We obviously had to go inside and try it.
The Lion King consists of Caramel Mousse, Chocolate Brownie, and Strawberry-Mango Sauce for $15.
The menu description sounded pretty simple, but what we got was super elaborate!
The quote on the plate made us wonder if the pastry chefs at Tiffins are doing okay, because out of allll the iconic quotes from The Lion King, they went with “Remember who you are.” You know…the line from the giant Mufasa ghost that appears in the sky to Simba while he’s having an existential crisis! Y’all good back there in the kitchen??
An interesting choice, for sure. But we know who we are — we’re hungry Disney fans that just want some dessert, please!
As you can see, there’s the classic Hakuna Matata scene featuring Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa printed onto a piece of white chocolate in the front!
Then there’s a sliver of chocolate brownie topped with caramel mousse, white chocolate Chantilly whipped cream, crushed spiced pistachios, and fresh strawberries and blueberries. There’s also chocolate ganache on the sides topped with more strawberries! Underneath the dessert is that pretty strawberry mango sauce.
The caramel mousse was super rich and smooth! It was the most dominant flavor in the dessert and tasted like a true, smooth caramel.
Even though the brownie looked kind of small, it was actually just the right amount! It was also pretty rich and eating it with all of the toppings including the whipped cream was a GREAT spoonful!
The sliced pistachios gave a nice crunch and nuttiness to the dessert and the strawberry mango sauce was sooo yummy. We’d love to just drizzle the sauce over some vanilla ice cream!
The chocolate ganache was very rich, so the two little swirls on the side were all we needed!
When we cut into the desert, we discovered a cookies and cream filling inside of the mousse!! We wish there would’ve been a little bit more of that because it was a great flavor.
Overall, the dessert had a LOT going on! The fun flavors worked together beautifully. It was very rich though, so you could easily share it with someone else OR just go in for dessert and have it to yourself!
If you like rich desserts that pack a punch of flavor, you will love this! Plus, it’s absolutely adorable and will make you reconsider your identity, so there’s that! If you like more simple, one-note flavored desserts, this might not be for you. Also, obviously, tell your server if you have a nut allergy due to the pistachios on top to see how they can accommodate you. Stay tuned to DFB for more fun sweets and treats around Disney World!

Wow! That is stunning! $15 almost seems like a bargain with all that is going on. My family Disney vacation is in January, so that dessert probably won’t be around by then, but one could hope.
