Halloween is upon us!
Main Street, U.S.A. is lined with pumpkins, snacks are spooky, and the After Hours Boo Bash is underway, so we can’t think of a better time than to embrace the spirit with a Disney-inspired Halloween cocktail party at home!
Halloween season is one of our very favorite times of year at Disney World, and fortunately for us, it’s basically a three-month holiday around here!
While we’re constantly on the lookout for yummy new snacks and merch, we also love to bring the festive fun home with us, and what better way than by mixing up some Disney-inspired Halloween drinks!
Sanderson Sisters Potion Drink
Halloween season is Hocus Pocus season, and while we EAGERLY await the sequel, we’ll bide our time by mixing up some witchy potions at home!
Shoutout to the Disney Parks Blog for sharing the recipe for the Sanderson Sisters potion drink, which thankfully does NOT entail putting spells on children or resurrecting zombies or anything with a dead man’s toe!
What you need:
- 1 package of lime gelatin
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 1/2 cups cold water
- 1 quart lemon-lime soda
- 1/2 quart lemonade
Directions:
Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water and wait for it to dissolve completely. Then add cold water. Transfer to a pitcher and add the lemon-lime soda and lemonade.
And voila! Now you can watch Hocus Pocus while sipping along in style! If you’re feeling saucy, feel free to make it boozy with a spirit that pairs well with lemon-lime flavors, like tequila or rum!
Underworld Smoothie
Channeling the Greek god of the Underworld feels like an apt activity for Halloween…and by that we mean mixing up a Hades-approved smoothie!
Disney shared a recipe for the Underworld Smoothie, which is a great “cocktail” if you’re looking to slurp something healthy and alcohol-free, with two recipes that combine into one!
Calm Blue Smoothie:
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup frozen blackberries
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup grape, blueberry, or blackberry juice
- 1 cup ice
Angry Red Smoothie:
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup strawberry, cranberry, or beet juice
- 1 cup ice
Instructions:
Step One: Combine all the ingredients for the blue smoothie in a blender, and blend until combined. Pour into a measuring cup with a pouring lip and set aside.
Step Two: Combine all the ingredients for the red smoothie in a blender, and blend until combined.
Step Three: Holding a vessel in each hand, pour half the two smoothies into a drinking glass at the same time, then repeat with a second glass. Enjoy cold.
Maleficent Mocktails
If you’re looking to cast a non-alcoholic spell on some friends, throw a Halloween party and serve some Maleficent Mocktails!
Disney shared a booze-free recipe that looks so good, and SO Instagrammable! Complete with chocolate-covered candy orange slices as Maleficent horns! Check out the easy-to-follow recipe video here and prepare to be wowed!
GurrTiki
Sooooo tiki cocktails may not seem innately Halloween-ish, but they are when they’re made by an Imagineer that actually helped CREATE the Haunted Mansion!
Bob Gurr is the legendary Imagineer responsible for creating some of the parks’ most iconic attractions, and though he’s long since retired, he’s become quite the at-home mixologist! In fact, The Walt Disney Family Museum released a recipe for his GurrTiki, and it can be made with or without alcohol!
Cheers to Bob! And to Halloween!
Black Magic Margarita
We’ll take any margarita recipe La Cava del Tequila is willing to give us, but ESPECIALLY if it’s designed by Neil Patrick Harris, and ESPECIALLY if it’s got a little “black magic” in it!
After the EPCOT bar went live on Instagram to share the recipe they created with Harris, they were so kind as to also release the recipe to the masses, so we can enjoy this spooky-sounding drink at home!
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz. mezcal
- .5 oz cassis blackberry liqueur
- 1 oz lime juice
- 1 oz agave
- 10-12 blueberries
- 4 blackberries
- Mint leaves
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together in blender. Blend with ice. Garnish with mint leaves and blackberries.
Spooky Juice and Franken Fusion Colada
Inspired by the Halloween on the High Seas cruises on the Disney Cruise Line, we found a couple other bewitching beverages to sip this Halloween season!
The Spooky Juice is a rum-based drink that looks like a straight-up potion with its purple color and creepy-cute lychee garnish!
Then there’s the Franken Fusion Colada, a ghoulishly colored drink with Piña Colada Mix, Orange Passion Juice, Pumpkin Spiced Puree, Chocolate Sauce, Whipped Cream, and Raspberry Puree. It looks like the perfect drinkable Halloween dessert! Find both recipes here!
So as you prepare for more Halloween festivities this season, be sure and get into the spirit at home with these spooky, colorful, and fun cocktails inspired by Disney!
