Today we got a glimpse into the future of The Princess and the Frog retheming plans for Splash Mountain in Disney World and Disneyland.
Disney shared a roundtable discussion in which the panel discussed the new Mardis Gras finale plans for Splash Mountain, new characters, and concept art. There was one interesting comment made about the future for Princess Tiana, and we can’t help but wonder what it means!
On the rethemed The Princess and the Frog Splash Mountain ride, Princess Tiana will invite guests on a journey through the New Orleans Bayou, where she will lead the way (in pants, no less!) alongside old and new characters. Louis, of course, will be along for the adventure!
The new storyline for Splash Mountain will begin after the last kiss between Prince Naveen and Princess Tiana in The Princess and the Frog and it will end with a giant Mardi Gras party. Imagineers noted that Tiana will be actively engaged with guests, who will serve as active participants on the new ride!
One of the Disney Imagineers on the panel mentioned that the ride narrative will be “connecting who Tiana was in the movie to who she will be in the future,” which made us curious about the future for Princess Tiana. We already know that a new Princess Tiana comedy musical series is coming to Disney+, but could this have been a hint at a The Princess and the Frog sequel? That would be incredible!
The retheming of Splash Mountain was announced in July 2020 but it could be a long time before we actually see the ride fully transformed. Now that we know a little more about this new ride, we’re even more excited! Keep reading DFB for more Splash Mountain and Disney World news and updates!

No it should be left as i is. Disney has plenty of space to add a new frog ride. Some things should be left alone.
