Disney KiteTails was a show at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom! This daytime production was presented at the Discovery River Amphitheater.

Disney KiteTails made its BIG DEBUT on October 1st as part of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.Â

Disney KiteTails — The Show
Disney KiteTails brought “the magic of nature and Disney storytelling to new heights” with elaborate three-dimensional kites depicting beloved characters from two classic Disney animated films in two unique shows. Guests could see a show inspired by either The Jungle Book or The Lion King.Â

For instance, you could see Baloo and King Louie in The Jungle Book!

Watercraft pulled the kites — some of which were as large as 30 feet in length! — as they “performed” in the air.

And it was all accompanied by memorable Disney tunes, like “Bare Necessities” and “I Wanna Be Like You!”
The other show featureed kites with characters from The Lion King performing!

While all the kites are impressive, the massive Zazu was especially stunning with his outstretched wings.
WOW!
They were joined, of course, by more familiar friends from the beloved film, all accompanied by songs including “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” and “Hakuna Matata,” among others.

Disney KiteTails was presented frequently throughout the day in a walk-by format — meaning that, while there is seating in the Discovery River Amphitheater, it could be viewed from several spots around the Discovery River Lagoon. Guests could see shows inspired by The Jungle Book or The Lion King. Showtimes ran throughout the day (approximately every 20 minutes) from 9:10AM through 3:10PM and lasted about 5 minutes. Performances were brief, so there was plenty of time to see KiteTails twice if guests wished to catch both versions.
Between KiteTails performances, guests could enjoy seeing Character Flotillas — which are still featured in the park on Discovery River. These Character Cavalcades feature music and Disney pals like Mickey and friends, Timon and Rafiki, and Pocahontas.
