The parks are starting to look more and more ready for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebrations!
The party kicks off on October 1st and Disney has been busy wrapping up all of the lingering construction projects that need to be completed just in time for it all! From brand new projection shows to daytime entertainment, and more, we’ve got a lot of updates to cover, so let’s get to it!
Magic Kingdom
Tony’s Town Square
Back in July, we noticed that the sign for Tony’s Town Square Restaurant had been removed and replaced with a banner on Main Street, U.S.A. We weren’t sure if this would be a permanent change, but now we can confirm that it was just temporary!
The sign is BACK hanging over the entrance and it looks like it has a fresh coat of paint.
This joins other signs that we’ve seen refurbished throughout the parks leading up to October 1st including Peter Pan’s Flight.
Main Street, U.S.A.
And, as we made our way down the rest of Main Street, U.S.A., we spotted something new wayyy up on the rooftops of the buildings — lighting and projection technology! They’re likely for the upcoming immersive projection effects that will be used as part of the new 50th Anniversary fireworks show — Disney Enchantment. We’ll be sure to bring you a look at them when we get to see them in use!
Plus, the Main Street Clock even got a MAJOR golden glow up and now features an icon with “50” on the top and 50th-anniversary banners below.
This joins other new decorations, including a HUGE “50” sign that have been popping up in Magic Kingdom recently.

The Hub
Of course, there’s even more decor to come! Disney announced earlier this year that they would be decorating the parks with new “Fab 50 Golden Statues” that feature 50 different Disney characters and it looks like preparations are in progress in front of Cinderella Castle!
Normally, you can find a collection of bronze character statues around The Hub…
…but all of them are now MISSING along with their cement banisters, leaving just an empty area among the bushes.
We already know that Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, and Chip ‘n’ Dale will make an appearance here in the hub once the 50th Anniversary golden statues are installed, so we may get to see them sooner than later!

Frontierland
Back in Frontierland, we’ve been keeping track of the construction progress going on as Disney gives the area some TLC, and this week we noticed that the walls that were once around Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe have now moved over to Country Bear Jamboree.
But, that wasn’t the only spot with a bit of a detour — we also spotted construction walls and tarp around the Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade.
For now, guests need to navigate around the walls to get to Country Bear Jamboree and the Shootin’ Arcade is unavailable.
EPCOT
Club Cool
Construction is also coming along at EPCOT and we’re VERY close to finally being able to walk inside the newly reimagined Club Cool. We shared a sneak peek from Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley recently, but this week we could actually see the signage for ourselves over some bushes in Future World!
Disney hasn’t shared an exact opening date just yet, but we’ll continue to keep an eye out for more details on when we’ll get to reunite with Beverly (and all the other Coke samplings) once again.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Discovery River Amphitheater
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, more work is underway to get Discovery River Amphitheater ready for its new daytime show — Disney KiteTails. Platforms have been out on the water for nearly a month now, but this week we could see that they’re almost complete!
The show will feature performers that fly windcatchers and kites in the theater and GIANT three-dimensional kits in the shapes of Disney characters out on the water, so we’ll have to wait to see exactly how this will be used in the show. But, it won’t be much longer — Disney KiteTails will debut on October 1st!

Disney Resorts
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
We stopped to check up on some of the construction going on in the Disney World Resorts too and noticed that there were construction flags in one area of the roof at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
The hotel recently reopened to all guests and this is likely only some light refurbishment work to make sure that it is looking in tip-top shape.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
Our last stop was over at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, where we spotted construction crews trimming trees near some guest buildings. Yes, even in Disney the trees need some upkeep, but projects like this normally tend to last only a few days and do not interrupt your resort stay much.
Well, that’s it for this week’s construction update from Disney World! Of course, we’re always keeping an eye out for all the latest updates, paint jobs, decorations, and more, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB!
