We’ve been keeping a close eye on all of the updates coming to EPCOT as part of this park’s massive transformation.

We’ve already got a new fountain near Spaceship Earth, a new fireworks show is on its way, and new nighttime lights have arrived. But now it’s time for another new thing to join the group. For the past few months, Mouse Gear has been selling merchandise to guests from a temporary location. But, now Mouse Gear’s official replacement — the NEW Creations Shop — has opened!
That’s right folks! The newest shopping destination in EPCOT has finally arrived! For the past several months, we’ve been sharing updates about this location, but today (September 15th, 2021) the Creations Shop finally opened for all guests to enjoy!
Atmosphere
The Creations Shop is EPCOT’s new flagship store and it’s located in Future World, past Spaceship Earth.

Guess just who is the inspiration for the store — well, it’s none other than Mickey Mouse!
Hi, Mickey!
You’ll see Mickey featured in a large mural on one of the walls and in other smaller ways throughout the store. According to Disney, all of the artwork you’ll find decorating the walls here is unique to this space and the art is intended to showcase “the global, contemporary icon that Mickey has become for generations around the world.”

The shop features a modern and sleek design with an atmosphere that’s open and bright, largely due to some of the floor-to-ceiling glass walls you’ll find in the space.

There are also woven interlocking panels on the ceiling…

…and unique light wells. According to Imagineer Zach Riddley, Disney worked to restore these iconic elements that “trace all the way back to the original buildings from the park’s opening.” But they’ve also converted them to have internally-lit elements to promote greater sustainability.

The store was super popular today for its grand opening, with a bunch of people packed inside, so keep that in mind if you’re planning on visiting soon!

Merchandise
In terms of merchandise, there’s a LOT to see here. Again, the Creations Shop is meant to be the new flagship store for EPCOT, so you’ll find a whole bunch of popular souvenirs here. The shop also has some brand NEW items, like the new Light & Color Collection that is exclusive to the Creations Shop. The gear is inspired by the historic transformation of EPCOT — here’s a look at the Light Collection:

Wow, this looks pretty cool AND pretty big. Any idea of square footage?
The renovation to World of Disney in Disney Springs was a drastic improvement. This also looks like a much more pleasant environment than what it replaced. Mousegear was a better name though. Seems like some of the section labels aren’t that accurate…”Hats” is the heading over ears (seems like a miss with the recent “get your ears on” campaign and “Accessories” is the heading over clothing. Glad it is open so we can cross this one off the list of construction projects!
Holy 70s, Batman. Anyone else getting that bright colors, Peter Max album covers vibe? It certainly appears to be bright and spacious.
That said, are we all still going to call it Mouse Gear? LOL Or will we be calling it Mouse-er-Creations Something?
It’s nice, but we think MouseGear was better. It seems much smaller. We do love the contactless payment option. Skipping the lines at the register is great in a crowd.
