If you’re headed to Disney World soon, you might already be crossing your fingers for that Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group.
Rise of the Resistance
We’ve seen a few changes to the Virtual Queue process for this ride over the recent months. As it stands, you can snag a spot at 7AM as long as you have a Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios and at 1PM as long as you have been admitted to the park that day. The process is similar in Disneyland. Now, there’s been ANOTHER change to make snagging a Boarding Group a little easier.
According to theme park reporter Scott Gustin on Twitter, Disney has made a change to the Virtual Queue process in BOTH Disney World and Disneyland.
Rise of the Resistance
Now, instead of confirming your party when groups drop at 7AM, you can confirm your party up to an hour before in the My Disney Experience app. Beginning at 6AM, you can tap into the Virtual Queue and set your party so that you have fewer steps when Boarding Groups are available at 7AM or 1PM. On the app, under “Join Virtual Queue,” you’ll find a button that says “Confirm Your Party.”

Once you hit that button, the app will find the people who are linked to your account.

You’ll select each person that you want to add to your party…
Select who’s going to be there
…and hit “confirm party.” Then you’ll go back to the screen about the virtual queue, where you’ll find more information about the next steps. When 7AM/1PM hits, you can refresh the page and click “Join Queue” to get a boarding pass.

Now you can join the Virtual Queue with one less button to press! If you’ve tried to get a Boarding Group before, you know that every second counts. This change could make the process easier.

As mentioned above, the new process will apply to the 1PM group too. As a reminder, Rise of the Resistance will be an individually priced option for the upcoming Lightning Lane (FastPass lane replacement), and we’ll let you know how things change when that option is available.

I don’t like that you keep having to get up earlier and earlier…..
One day this week a Disney rep told me I would lose the Park Reservations & 2 days later a patient & kind Disney rep told me I DEFINITELY would NOT lose my park reservations! (but suggested the representatives AT THE GATE would be the best to work with!)
Nancy, thank you for sharing this. Disney seemed to have fixed this glitch, but it’s good to be cautious. In-person upgrades or purchases might be the safe way to go.
