The Wave…of American Flavors has closed at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and a NEW restaurant — Steakhouse 71 — is set to take its place in time for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
We hadn’t heard too much about this new spot…until now! Today, Disney shared the official opening DATE for this new spot and a look at all of the tasty treats you’ll be able to get there. So, without any further ado, let’s dive in!
Steakhouse 71, which will be located on the 1st floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, will open on October 1st, 2021 (there are a LOT of things happening on that day). When it opens, Steakhouse 71 will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
What will be on the various menus? Let’s take a look. For breakfast, there will be a variety of different things to choose from including the American, breakfast pastries, the Floridian eggs benedict, the Steakhouse 71 Feast, avocado toast, and seasonal pancakes.
There will also be a multitude of beverages available including coffees, a Bloody Mary, a specialty character drink, and more.
Thinking of stopping by for lunch? You’ll find quite a few different options including french onion soup, crab cake sliders, a prime rib sandwich, and steak “frites.”
The real “steakhouse” menu comes at dinner. For dinner, there are a variety of appetizers available including onion rings, a wedge salad, and more. Then, you get to the steaks. There will be different cuts available including New York Strip, Filet Mignon, and others. You can customize your choice with different sides and sauces.
There will also be chicken, fish, and vegetarian options.
Got room for dessert? Then you might want to try the Steakhouse 71 Chocolate Cake, which is made with “15 layers of whiskey-infused chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and raspberries – one layer for every floor at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.”
There are also other dessert options, specialty cocktails, and more that will be available.
If you want to stop for a quick bite and drink before dinner, after dinner, or any other time, you can visit the Steakhouse 71 Lounge.
There, you’ll find a few food options as well as a variety of drinks.

When it comes to kids meals, Disney has noted that kids will get to be creative for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They’ll be able to select an entree, 2 sides, and a drink from menus that include “oatmeal with dried cranberries and Mickey-shaped waffles for breakfast and PBJ wings and cheeseburgers for lunch and dinner.” There will also be an option for kids to make their own ice cream sundaes.
And if you’re looking for a specialty drink, Disney notes that the “mixologists and sommeliers have created unique and refreshing concoctions to enjoy in the Steakhouse 71 Lounge or while you are dining.”
Some of the options include a Citrus Grove Cocktail (Italian bitter, green herbal liqueur, citrus juices, simple syrup, and orange bitters), and the Steakhouse 71 Vodka Gimlet (vodka, green herbal liqueur, herbal blend, lime juice, simple syrup, and Minute Maid Premium Lemonade).
Reservations for Steakhouse 71 will open up on September 16th. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates, so stay tuned for more!

I want to get reservations in October. I’m staying at the Polynesian for a while, but are you able to go to other resorts to eat there? I know this was not allowed a while back, has this been lifted?

I hope they consider adding an entree salad, and a simple meal. I’ve got vegans, vegetarians, and “no beef, pork, lamb or seafood” folks who don’t care much for mushrooms so dinner here looks to be out because both the vegetarian option and the chicken are mushroom filled.
But really – a simple entree salad with plain chicken breast… Or like on the cruiseline’s lighter fare menu: simple meat with rice or potatoes and a veggie. Should be offered everywhere. Some of us may not have food allergies but just prefer a simple meal.

I’ll miss the Wave but am excited for this place

Jon, the policy still says you need an Advance Dining Reservation or a Resort reservation to enter the Resorts (i.e. through the security booth when driving to the Resort). We have also learned that active Mobile Orders (as in you’re arriving to pick up a Mobile Order) can gain entrance to the Resorts. And Disney transportation means guests can go from Resort to Resort with no problem.
