Hello from Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
One of our favorite things to do is hang out here among the trees, animals, and delicious food (of course!). We like to go to the parks often to check out any new things or updates to old things, so come along with us and we’ll show you what’s new in Animal Kingdom!
Animal Kingdom Food Updates
Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery
Lunch items are now available at Kusafiri! The bakery recently reopened and is usually known for serving breakfast items and sweet treats, but now you can get lunch.
The new items include the Spiced Potato Hand Pies for $9.99, which are Fried Pastries with a mix of Seasonal Vegetables and Potatoes inside, served with Harissa Aioli and a Coriander Chutney…
…the Marinated Chicken Flatbread Sandwich for $10.49, which is a flatbread topped with Marinated Chicken, Cucumber Tomato Salad, Tahini Sauce, and Greens and served with chips…
…and the Red Chili Hot Dog for $9.49, which is a Spiced Hot Dog topped with Cucumber Tomato Salad and Harissa Aioli. This also came with a side of chips!
These are NOT your basic theme park snacks, so if you’re looking for something different, check these options out!

Isle of Java
The Rotten Apple drink is still on the menu at Isle of Java for some reason!
This drink is Apple Orchard Crisp Apple Hard Cider and Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey served over ice with gummy worms for $11. It first appeared in the fall of 2020, but it actually came with the garnishes, unlike ours!
Yeah, we didn’t get any gummy worms! Very lame, Disney.

Animal Kingdom Construction Updates
Statues
Golden character statues have appeared at Animal Kingdom! We have Simba with Timon and Pumbaa…
…Bambi and Thumper…
…and Nemo and Dory!
These statues are looking so festive for the 50th anniversary.

Lightning Lanes
Lightning Lanes have been installed at new rides in Animal Kingdom! We found one at DINOSAUR…
…It’s Tough to be a Bug…
…and Festival of the Lion King!
With more Lightning Lanes going up around the parks, we might be getting closer to Disney Genie launching!

KiteTails
Animal Kingdom is getting a new show for the 50th anniversary — Disney KiteTails! The show will take place during the day at Discovery River Amphitheater in the Asia section of the park.
As Disney gets ready for the first show on October 1st, they have been working on platforms on the lake for the show.
You can see two large platforms being worked on.
It looks like things are moving along swiftly!
We can’t wait to see the show for the first time!

Primeval Whirl
Primeval Whirl has been closed since the Disney Parks shut down in March of 2020, and Disney later announced it would be remaining closed permanently. For a while, it has just sat there untouched in DinoLand U.S.A., but now there is some movement!
Construction walls went up around the attraction recently, here are some of the latest photos of the work being done:
We don’t know what they’re doing…maybe they’re starting to take down the ride?
If we find out what’s going on, we’ll let you know!
Animal Kingdom Merchandise Updates
Island Mercantile
We spotted a new Mickey hat inside Island Mercantile! It’s an army green color and says, “Oh Boy!” across the front with a confused Mickey face.
The bill of the hat is a leather-like material!
You can get the hat for $34.99
Discovery Trading
The Stitch Crashes Snow White Collection has been released in Discovery Trading! We also saw the collection in Star Traders in Magic Kingdom.
You can get the plush for $29.99…
…the MagicBand for $39.99…
…and the pin for $24.99!
If you’re collecting pieces from the Stitch Crashes series, definitely check these out!

The Sleeping Beauty pin is part of the Magic in the Stars series and was released for Virgo, which makes sense, as it is Virgo season right now!

Any word on getting the UP characters back in the bird show?
DFB Sarah says
Bob, I don’t think we’ve heard from Disney on this point yet.
