Disney World’s 50th Anniversary is SO SOON and that means this is a pretty historic time.
We’re SO excited to check out all of the celebrations beginning on October 1st like the new character costumes and Magic Kingdom’s NEW Disney Enchantment fireworks show! Still, there’s a very special way you can celebrate Disney World’s 50th — and you don’t even need to leave home!
The Orlando Sentinel is a well-known newspaper in the Disney World area and has the historical claim to fame of being the paper that broke the news that Walt Disney was buying up land in central Florida in the mid-1960s.
Nowadays, the Orlando Sentinel continues to cover the news around Disney World. Well, in celebration of Disney World turning 50, the Orlando Sentinel has published a new book: Disney World at 50: The Stories of How Walt’s Kingdom Became Magic in Orlando.
The book contains stories like the one of Emily Bavar sleuthing out Walt’s intentions in Florida, reproductions of original newspaper clippings, excerpts from other coverage, and rarely seen photos from the Orlando Sentinel’s Disney images archives. The book is an especially fitting souvenir to commemorate the 50th as it focuses a lot on the opening day of Disney World in 1971!
You can find the book on Amazon right now for $35! Head on over to pick up this historic creation. As always, stay tuned to DFB so you don’t miss any new Disney news.

Ronjon says
It’s too bad Walt Disney died before completion and never saw the park in operation.
