Can you believe it’s finally here? We’ve been so excited about today because it’s Disney World’s 50th anniversary! And a huge celebration is JUST beginning to take place at the parks!
It’s also a HUGE day at EPCOT for other reasons, too — today marks the opening of a brand NEW attraction, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at the France Pavilion — AND a new restaurant is opening there, too — La Creperie de Paris. SO much going on! So, as you can imagine, all that excitement has brought a LOT of guests to the parks to check all the new stuff out. Let’s take a look at what crowds are like at EPCOT today.
We arrived at the park entrance and noticed there weren’t many people around!
Then, we entered the park and discovered the crowd!
Everyone was gathered in front of Spaceship Earth waiting for the park to officially open. If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you can enter the park 30 minutes before opening time.
Once we got inside the park, we noticed that crowds weren’t too bad! Within the first hour of opening, Spaceship Earth was only at a 5 minute wait, Soarin’ was at 10 minutes, Frozen Ever After was at 30 minutes, and Test Track was at 30 minutes. The line for Creations Shop, however, was a different story!
We went back to the France pavilion in World Showcase to see how the crowds are for the opening of the new addition, and they weren’t too bad!
Most of the people we saw were waiting in lines, like this line for the new quick service crepe restaurant, Crepes a Emporter at La Creperie de Paris.
The table service option for La Creperie de Paris also wasn’t bad! The wait for a table was only 30 minutes just before 10AM.
There were also people in line to get on the new ride, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. You have to have a boarding pass to ride Remy’s and all of the boarding passes from the 7AM drop were booked up VERY quickly! Another round of passes will be released at 1PM today for people already inside EPCOT.
Around the rest of the World Showcase, the crowds weren’t that high this morning either.
The low crowd trend continued in Italy…
…and into Germany.
Japan definitely had a bigger crowd out to watch the drummers, though!
And crowds started to pick up in the afternoon.
There were still many people waiting in line to get in to Creations Shop and scoop up some merch.
We’re kind of shocked that the crowds aren’t very big in EPCOT so far! But, we’ll be sure to update this post throughout the day so you can see if crowd levels change. So, stay tuned, because we’re covering EVERYTHING about Disney World’s 50th anniversary today!

To be expected on such a big day for MK…
Sonja Marie LeVan says
Why are there no masks required with this size crowd….Florida has a high level of Delta/Covid…..Disney said they were requiring masks and we are scheduled to be there in 2 weeks so I am not happy with no masks!
DFB Sarah says
Sonja, I believe the current mask mandate for Disney is masks for indoor queues and attractions. Also masks are required in restaurants unless you’re eating/drinking. Here’s the current policy for Disney World. You’ll want to double check requirements before your trip, too. I hope you have a wonderful time!
