It’s October 1st, and you know what that means…we are celebrating Disney World’s 50th Anniversary! The big party has finally started (seriously, we’ve been counting down the days).
And what a party it is! There are two new nighttime shows (EPCOT’s Harmonious and Magic Kingdom’s Disney Enchantment). There is SO MUCH merchandise (like, seriously, SO much stuff to buy). And there is a LOT of new food available in celebration of the big day, and well, we’re all about food! All day we’ve been eating our way around Disney World. Now, the rumbly in our tummies has brought us to EPCOT to try TWO new desserts.
Over at at Sunshine Seasons, you’ll find 2 new 50th Anniversary cakes — the Lemon Chiffon Cake and the Mini Chocolate Bundt Cake.
First up is the Mini Chocolate Bundt Cake for $5.49. This miniature cake is covered in chocolate ganache and filled with chocolate mousse. On top you’ll find sprinkles, and icing dusted with EARidescent shimmer, as well as a 50th Anniversary garnish made of chocolate.

There’s no denying this cake is cute, but it also delivers in terms of taste! We thought this cake was AMAZING. It’s actually our favorite of the 2 new Sunshine Seasons treats we tried today. The cake itself is moist and decadent. The ganache is nice and thick (not too syrup-y), and it adds more texture to the cake. The light, smooth mousse inside was a perfect contrast to the rich cake.
If you’re not a big chocolate fan, this dessert might be a little too rich and chocolate-y for you. But for all of our fellow chocolate lovers out there — this one is a MUST.
As if that wasn’t enough sugar to power us through the day, we also tried the Lemon Chiffon Cake for $5.49. This is a Lemon Chiffon Cake with Blueberry Mousse — sounds like a lovely flavor combo!

This dessert is a great contrast to the Mini Chocolate Bundt Cake, because it is very light and delicate. The lemon flavor in the cake is super fresh and doesn’t taste too artificial. The cake is very moist, and it melts in your mouth beautifully.
Our only complaint is that we couldn’t taste a strong blueberry flavor in the mousse. There was a slight berry taste, but it was difficult to pick out.
If you love lemon or fruity desserts, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed by this one. Plus it comes with that gorgeous 50th plate! But if you’re not a citrus fan, we recommend trying that Chocolate Bundt Cake instead.
If you’d like to try either of these snacks (or both — we certainly won’t judge!), head on over to Sunshine Seasons now! We’re still making our way through lots of new 50th anniversary foods, so stay tuned for more.
