It’s hard to beat Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa when it comes to Christmas cheer during the holiday season.

This hotel is known for STUNNING Christmas decorations like a massive tree in the lobby. But the REAL winner of Grand Flo Christmas decor is the grand gingerbread house the pops up this time of year! Now, we’ve got a progress update!
We’ve already spotted some progress on the grand gingerbread house! The frame arrived at the resort earlier this week and pastry chefs were hard at work with the construction. Today, we spotted that they’ve started adding the actual gingerbread.

Pastry chefs were hard at work on all sides of the house adding SO MANY gingerbread cookies to the exterior of the house.

We especially love the heart-shaped cookies that line the edges of the roof!

The structure is already looking quite impressive and it doesn’t even have all the fun bits and decorations yet.

We did spot that the windows have adorable little vignettes included. There’s one of Mickey and Minnie…

If you go around the backside of the house you can see that the Gingerbread Counter is coming along as well! We can’t WAIT to snag some gingerbread treats from this ACTUAL snack kiosk.

I can only assume that all of this work is taking place during the wee hours in the overnight while the guests are fast asleep. It’s called “Making Magic”….
We stayed in the Grand Floridian back in 2014 around the second week of November (for the Christmas party). Got to see the Gingerbread house built and the Christmas tree go up. Quite a treat – literally. The building crew would put out extra or broken shingles for us to sample. That was the one year we left our bags with the hotel for transfer to the Magical Express vs. take our bags with us to the bus. My wife’s bag was lost. Don’t know if it ever made it to the airport. Even if you’re not staying at the Grand Floridian this time or year, it’s a must-visit during the holidays.
