To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.
We’ve been keeping an eye out for updates about the COVID-19 pandemic for some time now.
Recently, we’ve shared some updates about Orange County, Florida being listed as a “rapid riser county” when it comes to COVID-19 cases, information about travel bans related to the new Omicron variant, and more. Now, we have an important update about the Omicron COVID-19 variant and Florida.
Previously, we had shared how cases of the new Omicron COVID-19 variant had been found in other parts of the United States. According to Spectrum News 13, the first cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant have now been detected in Florida.
One case was detected in Tampa Bay. A representative of the hospital where it was found (James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital) noted that the patient is experiencing mild systems and had recently returned from travel abroad.
Spectrum News also notes that The Tampa Bay Times has reported that another case of the Omicron variant has been detected in St. Lucie County. The Tampa Bay Times has shared that “contact tracing is underway.”
The situation with COVID-19 and the Omicron variant is continuing to develop. If you want more information you can click here to see our list of travel restrictions related to the Omicron variant; or you can click here to see what you need to know about Omicron and Walt Disney World.
Note that when it comes to health and safety policies, masks continue to be required by all guests ages 2 and up (regardless of vaccination status) in all indoor locations in Disney World and in all enclosed transportation.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates and let you know what we find.

My husband and I spent two and a half days at Disney World last week. We found the Parks overcrowded as were the buses. Two days after our return, my husband came down with Covid. There was no social distancing whatsoever and many hand sanitizers were not working. We live in FL so no flights were involved. I will be call Disney’s Corporate office to file a complaint.
Chris says
Tink, the incubation time for Covid can be up to 2 weeks. If your husband had acquired Covid at Disney it probably wouldn’t appear in only 4 days. He could have been infected the week before your trip. Time to move on and get back to life. If you’re not vaccinated, then avoid crowds if you haven’t had Covid already. From what I’m reading Omicron is just another minor variant that produces very mild symptoms. There were other variants prior to Delta that you never heard of.
Christine says
It’s not lethal.

WDW needs to make vaccines and masks mandatory for entry .
We all need to be selfless and protect those around us too. It’s time to be kind to one another!
