At the beginning of this year, Disney World officially discontinued the Magical Express service.
This service offered free transportation to and from Orlando International Airport for guests staying at Disney World hotels. With Magical Express discontinued, the company that provided the transportation for Disney, Mears, has now begun offering airport transfer services which guests can purchase separately.
Guests have the option to book their airport transportation directly through Mears. In addition, Disney also lists ground transportation as an add-on option for guests booking a Disney World hotel or vacation package.
Disney offers several ground transportation options, including car rentals and transfer services through Mears.
There are a number of different Mears transfer service options available and the price varies depending on the option selected.
For guests planning an upcoming Disney World vacation, there are several different choices for ground transportation now that Magical Express is no longer an option. Be sure to do your research ahead of your trip to decide which option is the best for you and your travel party!

I hate that Disney’s taken away all the perks are taken away all the magic and it’s no different than going to the park such as six flags or whatever eventually Disney is going to totally be just like a regular run-of-the-mill every day theme park so why spend so much money to go there?
Ed says
Ok just trying to make sure I’m getting this right. (Using the above example) if I add the SUV service to the package then I would be paying $250 for an SUV to take me round trip between MCO and Pop Century.
$1073 (the price for that option) – $823 (the price for no airport transportation) = $250
At first glance it seemed like someone would be paying an extra $1073 for the service. Lol
In the absence of the Magical Express
Having an airport transportation option that can be baked into a package seems like a good thing.

Maybe I’ll swing for the limo service next time…

So if I am reading this correctly, for an extra $1,200. (I rounded up for tax.) Disney will now provide an “add on” to the cost of an 11 person reservation for something that used to be included. As much as I hate the whole concept of paying for an amenity that used to be included, private, round-trip transportation will be a viable option for those who can afford it. It would take the worry out of planning how to get to your hotel. Still no baggage retrieval, however. That is a real loss!

Why doesn’t the option include the Mears bus option?
David Dominie says
Mears’s bus is the best option from Mears. $16.00 each way, $32.00 for round trip. Party of 2, $64.00 total. Sometimes Lyft or Uber could be a good choice.
