Want to take your Star Wars Hotel experience to the NEXT LEVEL? Want that VIP-style treatment? Want to sit at the center of everything and get access to an exclusive experience? Get ready.
There’s a lot about the new Star Wars Hotel (Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser) that already feels very exclusive. First of all, there’s the big price tag that comes with a stay there, making it an exclusive experience in of itself. And some special experiences onboard like lightsaber training, Sabacc tournaments, and the perks guests get on Batuu, make it feel even more special. But there’s one experience that actually is quite exclusive since only a handful of guests staying at the Star Wars Hotel will get to experience it each night at the hotel. We investigated to see if this bonus experience is worth the extra cost and whether you should add it to your itinerary if you’re visiting this new hotel.
The exclusive experience that we’re referring to is dinner at the Captain’s Table in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. This dining room hosts ALL guests during dinner at the Star Wars hotel. A standard dinner here is included in the cost of your trip, but if you pay an extra $50 (plus tax) per person, you can eat at a special table during one night of your stay.
What’s so special about this Captain’s Table experience versus the regular dinner service? And since you’re already paying pretty high prices to be at the Galactic Starcruiser in the first place, is it worth the $50 upcharge to eat at this table? Let’s find out.
Atmosphere
This Captain’s Table experience takes place in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, which is the same place where you’ll have all of your other meals during your visit (unless you have lunch at Galaxy’s Edge during your excursion to Batuu or choose to grab a to-go option at the Sublight Lounge for select meals).
The dining room has some pretty impressive light fixtures on the ceiling…
…as well as more lights along the walls.
Most of the seating is standard tables and chairs, and there are also some booths along the walls. This dining room has different levels. The various levels allow more guests to see the entertainment, which takes place up on a stage in the front of the room (and also makes its way around the room!).
As guests at the Captain’s Table, you’ll have a prime view of this entertainment. The table is located in the middle of the room, towards the front. Plus you might just get a visit from the Captain herself! During our trip, the Captain showed up briefly and chatted with the table, but then she got called away on business! (Duty calls!)
During night 2 we weren’t seated at the Captain’s Table but we did see the First Order Lieutenant stop by the Captain’s Table and chat with guests there before the Captain came and got into a bit of an argument with him about control over the ship. DRAMA FOLKS. DRAMA EVERYWHERE.
This table has special lighting underneath and a large display stand in the middle. The chairs are the same as the rest of the chairs in the room. They’re made of a blue vinyl material on the seat and a velvety material on the back. You’ll find gold accents on both the chairs and tables here.
When you sit down, you’ll find a beautiful napkin display and specialty drinks menu on top of your plate to set the scene. This is the Captain’s Table, after all, so you’ve GOT to be FANCY! Pinkies up!
After you sit, you’ll also get a special hand towel that “grows” and expands when placed in water! You’ll get to use this to clean off your hands and get ready to enjoy a fancy space meal.
From these seats, you’ll be located close to the stage where galactic superstar and diva Gaya will be singing to entertain the guests. Her accompanist Ouannii may also be present and performing there. Be prepared for them to take a stroll around the room and really get interactive with the guests!
You just never know what might happen, especially if someone from the First Order gets involved! Other entertainment could also interrupt your meal. Your time at the hotel is an immersive experience within a Star Wars story, and it doesn’t pause for mealtimes! You may see characters wandering (or running) through the dining room while you eat, so keep those eyes open and be ready to snap a pic or simply be a part of the story!
So what makes the Captain’s Table so special? For starters, as we mentioned, the location of the seating is unique. It’s right near the center and more toward the front of the larger space, giving you a great view of the action. Plus, since you’re at the special table, you may have the Captain come around and chat with you.
Note that seating here is for the whole group that has paid for the experience for that night. That means you’ll be seated with other guests, so just keep that in mind.
But another thing that makes this space unique is the FOOD.
Eats and Drinks
Some of the food at the Captain’s Table is the same as the standard dinner offered here. But a few dishes are very different! The main thing is that guests at this table will get to try extra courses that are not available to other visitors. Let’s take a look.
Menu
When seated at the Captain’s Table, you’ll get a special menu just for your experience. During our media preview event, we were seated at the Captain’s Table on night 1. Note that the food and experience may be very different on your “sailing” and it can vary depending on what night you visit.
As part of the Captain’s Table experience, you get to enjoy ALL of the offerings within the six courses presented to the Table. This includes a First Taste, Bento Experience, Intermezzo, Chandrila Chef’s Selections, Dessert, and a Decadent Finale.
In terms of what you can ONLY get at the Captain’s Table, these are the offerings exclusive to this dining experience: The Amuse Bouche (First Taste);Â the Intermezzo; the additional protein provided to the table (during our meal it was the Lee Romay Seared Scallop listed on the menu above, but based on our understanding it might be Lobster Tail on some nights); and an additional dessert. We’ll discuss these a bit more below.
Also included in the Captain’s Table is some complimentary champagne for the Captain’s toast! The celebrations never stop in space!
Also included in the Captain’s Table is a complimentary red or white wine pairing with your meal.
If you’re traveling with little ones and planning to sit at the Captain’s Table, no worries. There is a Younglings Menu available at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, and it is one you can also enjoy at the Captain’s Table (we were able to try these options during our meal there so we’ll share ALL of our thoughts on that soon!).
In addition to the Captain’s Table six-course meal and the Younglings options, there are also specialty cocktails and specialty non-alcoholic cocktails you can get with any meal at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room (including when at the Captain’s Table).
These are an additional cost. And as we mentioned there is a red/white wine pairing for those at the Captain’s Table which is included in the experience.
Drinks
During our meal, we grabbed the Blue Milk Citrus Fizz. This drink is non-alcoholic and costs an additional $8. It features lychee, lime lemon-lime soda, and blue milk sorbet. We also tried this over at the Cantina Chronicles event in the Sublight Lounge.
The sorbet at the bottom was interesting — it didn’t quite melt or disintegrate in the drink, but instead just sat there. Overall, this drink was fine and sort-of tasted like a concentrated version (in terms of flavor) of the blue milk, with a more juice-like sensation instead of milk. It was very sweet and did have that mint flavor to it that you taste at the end (like what you get with the regular blue milk).
You can also get the Muja Twist here for $8, which is another non-alcoholic drink. We also tried this one over at the Cantina Chronicles event in the Sublight Lounge. The drink is made with watermelon, herbal garden blend, mint, and sparkling bubbles.
The story with this one is that it is a truth-telling beverage. If you’re lying, you’ll find the drink too sweet, making it difficult to speak. But if you find the drink to be bittersweet, it means you’ve got pure intentions in making your deal! This drink wasn’t our favorite, but it did have more of a tart flavor and was very aromatic.
During our time at the Captain’s Table, we also grabbed the Pod Chaser. This is basically an Old Fashioned. It costs $15 and is made with bourbon, bitters, and orange zest. The Old Fashioned was sweeter than some other drinks we’d had, but the alcohol flavor did come through more than some other drinks. It had that chilled metallic sphere in it to keep it cold, which was pretty neat. And there were hints of orange, which we really liked. Overall it was a solid drink but nothing tremendously special.
During another meal at the Crown of Corellia, we also grabbed the Dagobah Vimlet. We wanted to include it here as well so you could get our full thoughts (since it’s also available at dinner on night 1). This drink is priced at $15 and features vodka, herbaceous orange liqueur, lime, and peppercorn. It is basically a take on a vodka gimlet.
This drink gave us strong swamp vibes. Yes, you read that right. SWAMP. It was really herbaceous and the peppercorn came through in a big way. For some, that grassy, earthy flavor might not be ideal. But if you do like herby flavors and drinks, this is the one for you!
During another meal at the Star Wars Hotel, we also grabbed an Espresso Martini at the Crown of Corellia at an additional charge. Though we didn’t grab it on night one (and you may not find it listed on the menu), it may be something you’ll be able to get on night one — just be sure to ask a Cast Member! Since it’s something you may be able to get on night 1 here, we wanted to quickly include our thoughts in this review.
This had a strong coffee flavor as well as a strong vodka flavor. If you’re looking for a solid Espresso Martini option, this delivers.
During our return trip to the Halcyon (on its maiden voyage) we also tried the Nysillin and Bubbles over at Sublight Lounge. Since this drink is usually available on night 1 as well, we wanted to include a photo and details here for you to check out! This drink is basically an intergalactic take on a Gin and Tonic. The drink is made with gin, cucumber, lime and thyme and is priced at $16.
This drink was really light and refreshing, especially because of that cucumber flavor. It’s a solid choice for someone looking for a simple drink, as long as you like gin and you aren’t looking for something sweet (this drink is NOT sweet at all so be warned!).
During our second voyage on the Halcyon, we also got the Mark of the Huntress drink during dinner on the first night of the trip. Since it is also listed on the drinks menu that is generally available on night 1, we thought we’d include it here for you to take a look at! The Mark of the Huntress is made with bourbon whiskey, peach-infused blackcurrant, orgeat (almond), lemon, and sparkling bubbles. The drink costs $23.
Remember that guests at the Captain’s Table are also provided with Champagne, which they can then raise during the Captain’s Toast!
There are also red and white wine pairings available. Your servers will pour you a glass of each.
Now, let’s eat!
Food
Now that we’ve covered our drinks, let’s get to the FOOD! For our first course (the First Taste) we had the Red Fruit Pillow (note that this is something that is unique to the Captain’s Table). This is made with a soy-ginger cured tomato, avocado, and wasabi crema. Pro tip: if you see “red fruit” during your voyage, it most likely refers to tomato!
This was pretty good! Our waiter told us that it was supposed to be inspired by sashimi — which you can kind-of see in it’s design in that it is a red item on top of like a white base (what would typically be some kind of fish on top of white rice). BUT this had none of the flavors of sashimi, so that’s something to keep in mind.
It mostly tasted like half of a Caprese salad! You got that tomato flavor, plus the little pillow on the bottom (which tasted like a sort-of pizza dough with a basil paste inside), so that was interesting. On top is that jellied cube. To be honest, we’re not entirely sure what the goal was for that portion of the dish but it was interesting to have that texture there. Overall, the Red Fruit Pillow was fine — it wasn’t show-stopping or something very memorable, but it was a fun way to start the meal!
Next, it was time for the second course — the Bento Experience. For this course, we were provided with 3 different spiral pan-seared steamed dumplings. These were very brightly colored, making them easy to distinguish. These are served family style.
From what we experienced, we were provided with two boxes to share between 3 guests (though note that you can ask for more of whatever you want). The buns were also cut in half to make sharing a bit easier.
First up we have the bright orange pod, which was the Tip Yip Chicken pod. This one was filled with sweet-and-sour shredded chicken. One of our reporters said that this was their least favorite of the three, but another one of our reporters really liked this one — so it’ll all depend on your tastes! It did deliver on that sweet-and-sour chicken flavor though, so that was nice.
Next, we have the blue pod, which was the Bantha Beef. This one was filled with braised teriyaki beef. This definitely had that heavy teriyaki flavor to it and the beef was very tender.
And finally we had the green pod which was the Flora Vegetables one. This is filled with potatoes and curry. This dumpling had a more complex flavor than the other two — likely because of those curry flavors within.
Overall, one of our reporters said that the Bento Experience was actually one of the best things they had throughout the entire voyage! That same reporter shared that the dumplings were all really well cooked and packed with flavor!
The items were true to the flavors described on the menu (i.e. the teriyaki beef truly captured that flavor, and the sweet-and-sour chicken one really encapsulated that flavor well). If we didn’t have to eat a bunch of other things on that same night, we easily would have asked for and devoured more of them!
And what makes them even better is that these pods all came with a variety of “interplanetary dipping sauces” for us to dip them into! One of our reporters shared that they felt like ALL of these sauces were good!
The sauces were: Kaadu Cream (Sweet and creamy). This was essentially a Yum Yum sauce and went really well with all of the dumplings! It was very mild in flavor and really tasty.
There was also a Melahnese Curry (Yogurt Dip). This definitely had more of that curry flavor to it, though one of our reporters shared that they felt like this one didn’t stand out as much as the others.
You can also grab the Batuu Spice (spicy aromatic condiment). This was actually one of our reporter’s favorite sauces! They shared that it was very spicy, aromatic, and complex. The flavors really melded well with the flavors of the dumplings in a great way. If you’re a fan of spicy foods (and jalapeños!) you might just find yourself feeling like you could eat this one with a SPOON!
Lastly, there was a Barbecue-style sauce (a Gochujang-laced sauce). This was a pretty standard barbecue sauce, although that Gochujang did add a more chili vibe to it, which we liked.
This course also came with a Flora Noodle Salad, which is a chilled salad of yellow beets, diakon, onion, carrots, and white miso vinaigrette. This dish tasted how you’d probably expect. It had a picked vegetable vibe overall. That pickled/more acidic and light flavor went well with the dumplings, which were a bit heavier on their own. While the salad might not be so memorable on its own, we did think it was a great addition to the Bento Experience overall.
The entire Bento Experience was something we really enjoyed with the dumplings coupled with the sauces and the salad.
Then it was time for course 3 — the Intermezzo (again, note that this is something that is unique to the Captain’s Table). For our Intermezzo, we were given a Miso Shooter, which was made of a Warm Miso Broth and crispy Tofu. This was alright. One of our reporters (who claims to be a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to miso!) said that they weren’t really a fan of the miso broth and found it to be a bit off-putting in terms of how it was served.
The bowl is essentially filled with a salt, and then the miso is in that shooter, with the tofu skewered on top. The word “shooter” might make you feel like you’ve got to down this bad boy all at once, but some might not really want to drink miso soup that way (at least, we didn’t really want to). So that was also a bit strange. If you like miso soup, you’ll probably like it, but it might not be something you love or something that’ll “wow” you.
Next, course 4 was up — the Chandrila Chef’s Selections. These are served family-style for all guests to share and enjoy. The Chef’s selections for our dinner included a few different offerings.
First, we have the Bantha Beef Tenderloin. This is a Tamarind-glazed beef served with crushed moon-rock potatoes. One of our reporters shared that this was probably one of the BEST things they ate in the entire Star Wars Hotel. They said that it was basically a perfectly cooked cut of steak that sliced easily and wasn’t chewy or anything like that. The meat was super juicy and FULL of flavor!
And the potatoes served with it aren’t something you should ignore! We went into this dish expecting them to be pretty basic potatoes in terms of flavors, but they totally surprised us! The potatoes had more savory and spicy flavors than we anticipated, and they were fantastic. We don’t think the spices in the potatoes are anything that picky eaters should be worried about though — they were accessible but still delicious!
Then we had the Tip Yip Chicken. This is Menkooro Bourbon-glazed chicken with red peppers and sesame seeds (Menkooro Whiskey is a bourbon from the Star Wars universe). One of our reporters really liked this! It was essentially an Asian-style, lightly fried chicken. It doesn’t necessarily look like anything special at first glance, but we thought it was really good! We still feel like the steak is better, but this is a solid option that a lot of palettes will likely enjoy.
Then we have the Lee Rosemary Seared Scallop, which features a creamy sauce and sesame seeds. (Note that this protein is EXCLUSIVE to the Captain’s Table offering and can vary — based on our understanding, it may be Lobster Tail on some nights). This was a fine option, but not really something that made us drop our lightsabers to run and get more.
The sauce was nice and savory. We also liked that the sauce had some depth in terms of flavor — you could tell that the scallops hadn’t just been cooked in butter. The scallops themselves were also cooked really well and weren’t chewy at all. If you like scallops, this is one you’ll probably like!
We also got to munch on some Stewed Shrimp which is made with lemongrass, lobster cream, and coconut-lime foam. We really enjoyed this one! If your idea of a good shrimp dish is shrimp served in a savory and creamy sauce, then these will be something you’ll like a lot.
The shrimp is served warm, which was nice, though we didn’t get a strong coconut flavor. It was more savory than sweet, which wasn’t a problem for us (in other words, don’t let the coconut scare you off!).
There were also some side dishes to go along with the meat and seafood options. First, we tried the Green Herbed Fluffy Rice with puffed rice crisp. One of our reporters shared that they really liked this dish, but did note that they are a rice lover and would probably love anything on rice — so if you’re like them and you love ALL things rice, then you might really enjoy this!
It has cilantro and some other herbs in it, making it very herb-y in terms of flavor. If you hate cilantro, then be warned, because that flavor definitely does come through here.
There were also some Surabat Spiced Flora, which were vegetables with Harissa Spice. These were nicely seasoned vegetables. The Harissa spice was wonderful and they made the veggies really tasty! The spices and veggies are a bit more unique, but we still feel like the Harissa itself isn’t something picky eaters should be too concerned about.
And now the good stuff — dessert! For course 5 (the regular dessert) there was Jogan Fruit and Caramel Whip. This was made with yuzu, passionfruit, and Cardellia Jelly. This dessert was alright, but didn’t really impress us. The passionfruit was a good touch — adding a bit of tartness — but overall it wasn’t anything tremendously special.
Here’s a peek at the inside.
And for course 6 (exclusive to Captain’s Table) there’s a Umi-Yumi Chocolate with caramel and yuzu. While the outside looks fairly plain, it’s the inside that’ll really surprise you!
Ummm…Nickelodeon called and they want their slime back! 😂 In all seriousness, while the green color is unique, one of our reporters said that the dessert as a whole was really good! The flavors were pretty surprising. One of our reporters really liked this but warned that the unique flavors might not be for everyone. The main flavor that came through was that chocolate, but then the inside had the more surprising combination of yuzu and caramel, which made for an explosion of flavor!
If you’re the type of person who likes more surprising flavors, then we think you’ll like this! And even if you’re not a huge fan of being surprised by your food flavors, you’ll want to make sure you grab a photo of the inside of this one since it is so bright and colorful!
And we can’t forget about the kids’ menu items! For passengers 9 and under (including those that sit at the Captain’s Table), there is a Younglings Menu. From our understanding, kids should be able to order as much as they want off of this menu, but be sure to see what rules are in place when you visit.
Also note that while the menu is for kids, adults may also be able to sample some items off of this menu. The Star Wars Hotel may not always be able to accommodate that request, but it doesn’t hurt to ask (’cause some of this stuff is pretty good!).
The choices for kids’ appetizers include a Flora Greens Salad with baby mozzarella, tomatoes, carrots, and ranch dressing; or you can get a fruit cup. There are also Flora Rice Paper Rolls which are vegetable summer rolls with sweet-and-sour sauce. This was tasty! It’s essentially just fresh vegetables in rice paper. It wasn’t anything dramatically special, but if you want something light to add on top of your meal, it might be worth ordering off of the kids’ menu!
For entrees, the Younglings options include Grilled Tip Yip Chicken Swords, which are served with sweet-and-sour sauce. Or you can opt for Fried Tip Yip Chicken Chunks, or a Cheese Pizza. Chedd-Cheesy Beef Spiral Dumplings are also available. For the sides, they have the options of steamed green beans, buttered noodles, steamed carrot spirals, a fruit cup, or crispy sliced waffle fries. Yes, you heard it here folks — there are WAFFLE FRIES in space!
Overall, the kids’ menu items featured some pretty familiar flavors done up in a fun way for young ones. The chicken might have been shaped strangely, but they tasted really well. The cheese pizza was pretty standard Disney puffy pizza. The sauce might have been a little bit more unique/flavorful than what we see in the parks, but overall it’s that same ole puffy pizza from places like PizzeRizzo that your kid knows and (likely) loves.
During night 2, we also got the chance to try the Chedd-Cheesy Beef Spiral Dumplings and waffle fries. The waffle fries were surprisingly big and tasted pretty good! But the beef spiral dumpling was the STAR. Friends, this was basically the same as the cheeseburger pods over at Satu’li Canteen in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, except maybe a bit cheesier! If you have any questions, we’ll be in cheeseburger pod heaven…floating into the universe. Please leave all questions at the beep. Beeeeeeeep.
Okay, we’re back! 😂 For the kids’ dessert, the featured dessert for our first night was Jogan Fruit and Caramel Whip with yuzu, passionfruit, and Cardellia Jelly (essentially the same as the adults). There was also a fruit salad available, which was served with a baked Masa-flatbread cone and vanilla yogurt. Or kiddos could grab warm cookies and white milk. A classic.
During a return trip on the Halcyon, we got to experience this sweet treat. Overall, the cookies themselves are fairy standard — more on the crunchy side rather than the chewy side, but still buttery. While the menu says “white milk,” the Cast Members let us choose between white, blue, and green milk — we went with blue!
On a return trip, we’d say we’d probably get these with white milk instead! While Blue Milk is unique, it didn’t give us that same deliciousness (in terms of flavor) for dunking the cookies.
Nosh or Not
Spend the extra buck to dine at this exclusive experience if you:
- You’re looking to be in the center of the action. The seating here really puts you front and center in terms of entertainment. If that’s something that is important to you, then you could splurge a bit to sit here, at the heart of it all. Some regular tables are also located near this area, but tables are generally assigned so you never know what spot you’ll get (though one Cast Member told us that you can certainly ask and see if your table assignment can be changed, but nothing is guaranteed).
- You’re looking to eat ALL you can eat at the Star Wars Hotel. If you’re determined to try every single snack and meal item you can get at the Star Wars Hotel, then you won’t want to miss out on taking advantage of this and trying some exclusive offerings.
- You’re an adventurous eater. A Miso Shooter and a Red Fruit Pillow are probably things you’ve never tried before. If you’re looking to fill up, eat some extra courses, and try some adventurous items, this could be a good fit for you.
Skip this experience and have a normal dinner in the Crown of Corellia Dining Room if you:
- You want to take a back seat to the action. If you’d rather sit a bit further away from the stage and the main area where the action is, then you might want to skip this.
- You’re a picky eater or are traveling with one. The Captain’s Table-exclusive offerings, like that Miso Shooter and other items, aren’t exactly made for those seeking chicken and fries. If you’re not an adventurous eater, then you might want to skip out on that.
- You’re on a tighter budget. The Star Wars Hotel is expensive enough as it is, adding on $50 per person for another experience might just not fit the budget. If that’s the case, you can skip this extra activity and just stick to the regular dinner.
OverallÂ
Overall, the Captain’s Table is a fun opportunity for adventurous eaters and those looking to take their Star Wars Hotel experience to the next level. But it’s not necessary by any means. Those in the dining room will still get to enjoy much of the same food (minus a few exclusive offerings) and still get to see all of the entertainment as well. In our opinion, some of the best items (the Bento Experience and most of the Chandrila Chef’s Selections) are still available in the standard dining room, so the up-charge might not be worth it.
BUT we can’t deny that it feels special to be sitting in the center of the action and even (perhaps) get a visit from the Captain. So it’s up to you whether you feel like this bonus experience is worth a little extra cash.

I don’t understand why you have to pay extra for cocktails, or mocktails…. Aren’t they making enough money off of you? I feel everything should be all inclusive. JMO…After all, 2 nights at $6000 is excessive enough, much less paying $15 extra for a mixed drink is crazy. I would never do this experience even if I could afford it. Seems a bit greedy on Disney’s part….a big bit!!

Thanks for the great review!
We hope to go on “cruise” someday and this article convinced us that the Captain’s Table is worth the extra $.

Is there a dress code for the Captain’s Table or is “resort wear” acceptable?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Michelle! The dress code for the Captain’s Table is your average resort wear. 🙂
jak says
Disney certainly does love using red dye in foods.
