We’ve been waiting for construction to be done on TRON Lightcycle Run in Disney World for what feels like FOREVER.
The ride was first announced in 2017, and we’ve been checking on the construction pretty frequently, but we still have no word from Disney on when the attraction will open. It was supposed to be ready in time for the 50th anniversary, but was delayed. However, we DID get an updated look at the ride today thanks to a video released by Disney!
Disney Parks posted a video on Instagram today showing a closer look at what’s going on with the TRON construction in Magic Kingdom. The video follows Assistant Construction Manager Angela Wu as she gives an update on the site — check it out below!
In the video, we learn that the canopy is being installed, which is a plastic polymer that gets blown up with air. And, at night, you can see a graphic pattern along the canopy! We have seen parts of the canopy up when we’ve check on construction recently.
We still don’t know when the ride will be completed and have its grand opening, but we’ll let you know as SOON as we find out, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

It only took 5 years to build WDW back I. The 1960’s to its opening in 1971, and that included stripping the land , creating the 7 seas lagoon and cleaning our Bay Lake. Why is it taking so long to build one attraction…?
