EPCOT is currently undergoing a massive transformation, which has caused a lot of construction the park! Some projects have finally been completed, like Space 220, others are almost finished, like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and some we don’t even know the fate of because Disney won’t share an update, like with the Festival Center.
There have even been some attractions put on hold, with no indication on when they could be picked up again. But, there ARE projects in EPCOT that will still be happening, they’re just a big work in progress, like Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. So, let’s take a look at the most recent construction!
Located over in the new World Nature neighborhood of EPCOT (which is also where The Land and The Seas pavilions are), you can get a good view of the construction when riding the Monorail!
The immersive walk-through attraction has been described by Disney as a “lush exploration trail” that allows explorers to “play with magical, living water.” As you can see, the area is the opposite of lush right now, so there is still a lot of progress to be made on the project.
Disney said you will also be able to “learn about the importance of the natural water cycle.” We can see some wooden framing that’s been set up in a raised area of the construction site.
There are also some concrete structures that are sitting down in lower areas of the site.
We caught a glimpse of some concrete walls that are up around the area as well.
The landscape looks really interesting! It seems like different levels of hills and valleys have been created. Or, it could just be that dirt is being moved around in order to install things that will be underground, like the system that will provide water to the attraction.
We’ll keep you updated as construction moves along over here! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and updates.

Thanks for the pictures, but it is still difficult to imagine what it will look like. We visited recently, and it was still the construction barrier maze. They scrapped items from this project already. It would be nice to see the current arial artist renderings of what it will look like. Disney used to put these kind of renderings on the contruction walls (something to look forward to) example Toy Story Land and Fantasyland expansion.
