STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE! Anyone who’s been to Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness knows how historic this dessert is at Walt Disney World!
And, luckily, there are several versions to sample around the parks and resorts! Let’s take a peek at a few that we enjoy…
Strawberry Shortcake at Sunshine Seasons
Nestled on the lower level of the Land pavilion in Epcot, Sunshine Seasons is known for market-fresh eats.
One of the best desserts at Epcot (and also a great value) is the strawberry shortcake. Fresh strawberries, smooth whipped cream and gorgeous vanilla shortcake are layered together for a fresh and decadent treat.
Strawberry Shortcake Sundae at Storybook Treats
UPDATE: Please note that as of June 2015, the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae is no longer being served at Storybook Treats.
In the Magic Kingdom, Storybook Treats (formerly Mrs. Potts’) dishes up refreshing snacks, including the strawberry shortcake sundae, topped with vanilla soft-serve and strawberry topping.
Even though it’s not traditional, we love the thick, moist pound cake!
Strawberry Shortcake at Beaches and Cream
Retro treats are the draw at Beaches and Cream, a quaint soda shop at the Beach Club resort.
The made-to-order presentation adds straight-from-Mom’s-kitchen awesomeness to the strawberry shortcake here. A sponge-like cake is topped with freshly made strawberry compote. A huge scoop of vanilla ice cream and a large dollop of whipped cream round out this classic treat.
Sprinkles and a cherry? You bet.
Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake at BoardWalk Bakery
Home to some of our favorite treats, the BoardWalk Bakery introduced a new cupcake last year — the Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake!
Strawberries drizzled in Grand Marnier add decadence to this refreshing snack. Light frosting is piled on top with a surprise center of fresh, juicy strawberries — and they don’t make the cupcake one bit soggy!
Strawberry Shortcake at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
Pioneer Hall is at Fort Wilderness is home to the foot-stomping fun that takes place each night at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. You won’t find a better dessert presentation anywhere in Disney World — this strawberry shortcake is part of the grand finale.
For those who have been to Hoop Dee Doo in the past, here’s the former incarnation of the Strawberry Shortcake!
Strawberry Shortcake at Plaza Inn in Disneyland
For those on the west coast, be sure to see if the Strawberry Shortcake is on the dessert list at Plaza Inn on your next visit! This decadent, over-the-top gorgeous dessert is from a counter service restaurant — can you believe it? It tasted just as good as it looks…
Remember, the desserts are rotated in this restaurant, so it might not be there when you are.
Strawberry Shortcake Dessert at Earl of Sandwich
The more-famous-every-day Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney has the marketplace cornered on great made-to-order sandwiches — but they also offer incredible desserts like this Strawberry shortcake.
There’s also a counter-service strawberry shortcake at the Animal Kingdom’s Campfire Treats. Has anyone tried it?
What’s your favorite strawberry shortcake in a Disney restaurant? And if we missed any, please do us a favor and let us know! 😉

Who knew Strawberry Shortcake could be prepared in so many different ways! And they all look delicious!! The sad part is that I’ve not tried any of them! The problem with Disney: Too many tempting treats and not enough time to try them all!
Emma says
Those all look delicious! I had something very similar to a strawberry shortcake at Les Chefs de France last month (it was on the lunch menu) 🙂
ShaeLee says
The shortcake at HDDR was the best! The food there is worth the ticket price. Soooooo GOOD!!!
Jenny says
They all looked so good, I think my fav. would be the cupcake, that way you could take it with you. If they were all in frount of me I would have to try every one.
🙂
Jennifer says
On our stay at Coronado Springs they had a similar Strawberry Shortcake as the one from Sunshine Seasons, it was delicious!

I am hoping to eat lunch at Sunshine Seasons when we go in late November, and if the strawberry shortcake is still on the menu, I’d definitely like to give it a try. It looks wonderful! I love that they use fresh strawberries–the mushy texture of strawberry topping doesn’t appeal to me, but fresh strawberries are another story. YUM.

I look forward to the SSC at Sunshine Seasons every trip. It is such a great mid-afternoon snack, right before a calming ride through Living with the Land 🙂
Jayne @ Four Parks, One Day says
That version at Earl of Sandwich is really reasonably priced!
Based on appearance and description, I’m thinking my favorites would be the Hoop-do-doo and the Boardwalk Bakery versions.
Jessica says
Sure makes me want a sweet summertime dessert! That Boardwalk cupcake looks amazing!
Jaia says
Now I’m tempted to do a strawberry shortcake crawl and try all these treats!
JoAnn says
yum. I’m going to Hoop Dee Doo Revue in November. Can’t wait to try it.

We thought the Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake from the Boardwalk Bakery was killer!!
We were a little disappointed with the strawberry shortcake at Sunshine Seasons though. We had really high hopes after all the gushing we heard about it – it was good, but it did not wow us. Maybe we just set our expectations too high! Of course, we at the whole thing… :p

WOW! I was having a craving for Strawberry Shortcake last night so I made some, and am eating it right now! What an added treat to be eating it while reading about my favorite dessert!!!! I’ve had it at Hoop dee doo and made a mental note to get that cupcake (it’s just so hard to give up the snacks INSIDE EPCOT just so I can go out and get the yumminess on the Boardwalk!). I have put the remainder of these on my “to do” list!

Emma – Strawberry Shortcake at Les Chefs. I’m making a note of that. Not sure I could by-pass my fave dessert there (profiteroles) though. 😉 Thanks for letting us know another place for this luscious dessert!
Jennifer – thanks for letting us know about the shortcake at Coronado. We’ll be on the look-out!

If it’s real shortcake, the one at Sunshine Seasons is the one I want to try. (Because of this Blog, I have a list longer than my arm, of things to try this coming November! LOL) Real shortcake is wonderful as its less sweet recipe balances nicely with the sweet berries’ juice and whipped cream!
Maria says
Can’t wait for my HDDR shortcake this fall!
Angela Berryman says
Does anyone have the recipe for the new strawberry shortcake at the Hoop Dee Doo? The new recipe is what I tried and it was amazing! However it does not match up to the recipes floating around on the web, they seem to be the old version. I would LOVE to have the new one!!!
DebC says
Too bad none of these are really shortcake. They are all varieties of white or yellow cake, which isn’t shortcake. Shortcake is more like a biscuit with a lot of texture to the shortcake. That’s why I was so disappointed when we were served the white cake square with strawberry topping and a bit of non-dairy whip on the top at our visit to HDD. I usually served my shortcake with cream or half and half poured over it. Now, I usually use whipped cream.
