Booking flights can be pretty tricky.
Airlines seem to be getting more and more expensive by the day, and if you’ve flown through the Orlando International Airport recently, you’ll know those crowds are no joke. There are tons of different airlines that offer different benefits that might help you and your family out while you’re traveling and one budget airline just added a new fare category with a couple more perks that might help your travel run smoother.
According to The Washington Post, Southwest Airlines is introducing Wanna Get Away Plus, a new fare tier right above their current Wanna Get Away Tier, which is currently the lowest cost. This buy-up from the Wanna Get Away tier offers some new benefits and some of them will be extending to higher Southwest tiers as well, so let’s go through them!
Wanna Get Away Plus will still include the benefits that are included across all Southwest fares which include 2 free checked bags, no change fees, and free movies, TV, and messaging on your flight. It also comes with some new perks like transferable flight credits. With this, customers can make a 1 time transfer of an eligible, unused flight to another traveler.
Wanna Get Away Plus customers will also get same-day confirmed change or same-day standby if their flight fills up and there’s another flight leaving from the same airport to the same destination. They will also get 8x the Rapid Rewards points!
Some of these perks will also transfer to the higher fare tiers as well. Anytime and Business Select customers will get transferable flight credit, and Tier Members will get same-day confirmed change and same-day standby.
If you’ve flown with Southwest before, you know that the seating system is pretty different from other airlines, but with these new perks and added flexibility, it could be a good option for your next vacation! We’ve found that, as long as you have a child under six, family boarding works really well. You get to board between A and B, which has always been fine for us to get 4 seats right around the wing.
